The 2016 Football selections on this site continue on a strong opening run with a record of 6-1 ATS. Though we may not attain that lofty percentage the entire season, it will result in an extremely high probability that you will have more winners than losers in your NFL picks.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Washington Redskins
It’s the first MNF game of the season for the NFL when the Pittsburgh Steelers visit the Washington Redskins for a 7:10 ET kickoff at FedEx Field in Landover, MD.  The game is scheduled to be televised on ESPN.  The Pittsburgh Steelers come off consecutive 11-win seasons, paced by a strong offense that has averaged a combined 26 PPG and 402 YPG the last 2 years.  Their season ended with a 23-16 loss at Super Bowl Champion, Denver, in January.  Much of that success has come on the strong right arm of QB Roethlisberger, who has led a passing game that has averaged 293 PYPG in those 2 seasons. His No. 1 receiver, Brown, will need to lead the way for the receiving corps., who will be without Bryant (suspended for the season) and Wheaton (expected to miss this game with a shoulder injury).

Without RB Bell (suspended for the first 4 games), the running load goes to the veteran, Deangelo Williams, who rushed for over 900 yards, when Bell missed action last season. But, the true success of the Steelers’ offense still revolves around the right arm of Big Ben and a much-improved OL, under the guidance of Mike Munchak. Veteran HC Mike Tomlin begins his 10th season with notably more NFL reps than 3rd year Washington HC Gruden.

The Redskins finished strong last year, going 4-0 SU ATS down the stretch to win the NFC East Division. Their demise came in a 35-18 playoff loss vs. Green Bay.  It was not a positive, however, that they were outrushed by an average of 124/4.8 to 98/3.7 LY.  Led by QB Cousins, the Redskins will hope to increase a mark that saw them win and cover their last 5 games as an underdog while going OVER the total in their last 5 games of the year.

There are conflicting technicals in this game which show that the Steelers are on an 8-20 ATS run vs. non-division foes, while the Redskins are 4-9 ATS as a non-division home dog, just 11-23 ATS on MNF including 1-12 ATS on this field.

Final Analysis
For my Monday night football predictions, I will favor the Washington Redskins in this game, due to the loss of fire power in the Steelers’ offense and the fact that Game 1 MNF home dogs are now on a 14-4 ATS run.

Contrary selections worked like a charm in the NFL on Sunday and we will follow that pattern, favoring the UNDER, with the public focusing on the fact that these two teams had the No. 28 and No. 30 pass defenses in the NFL last season.

I invite you to put the NFL betting odds in your favor and join me in my NFL pick on the Washington Redskins in the MNF Opener tonight.
