While it may not be the most attractive of the Week 3 preseason games, the Bucs and Bills represent a game that could hold some of the better value. The NFL Odds have the Bills as -3 home favorites, with a total of 41 ½.

Two Offenses; Same Results
So far this preseason neither one of these teams have looked that great on offense. The Bucs have drastically remade their defense this offseason for the better, but under Lovie Smith the offense is staggering some. Even though it’s better under Josh McCown that it was under Mike Glennon last season, the Bucs offensive starters have one touchdown through two preseason games this year. The Bucs have failed to score more than 14 points this preseason, and even though the Bills haven’t been great either, it’s going to take more than one score from the starters to cover this game.

Buffalo’s offensive problems have been more revolving around youth. EJ Manuel has not looked great so far this preseason, and now he has to worry about a rib injury to his rookie wide receiver, Sammy Watkins. Manuel was 17/27 in Week 2, with only 148 passing yards, no touchdowns, and a pick.

This week both starting quarterbacks should get most, if not all of the snaps in the first half, and if that’s the case, we could be seeing another defensive minded game. The Bucs’ starters on defense have looked pretty good so far, and against a young offensive likely without their best passing weapon this week, Tampa Bay Buccaneers should have no problem putting pressure on Buffalo Bills.

While Buffalo’s concerns right now might be more on the sale of their team, this game is going to be an important one for their season. Defensively they have been playing well. They gave up two scores to the Pittsburgh starters last week, however with a shaky Bucs offense coming in, this could be the perfect opportunity for Buffalo to reclaim some of their defensive prowess from last season.

The Sharp Pick
So far this preseason, these two teams have combined to go 1-4 SU, however one area they have been particularly good at cashing the NFL Odds is the under. Both have combined to go 4-1 this preseason cashing the under, and against one another, it could be another good opportunity to make money off the total. Even though the NFL Odds are at 41 ½, (the lowest of any Week 3 preseason game) the under still looks like a solid play.

According to reports from ESPN, there still has not been a decision made on the status of Watkins for this Saturday’s game. If he is not able to play, it not only puts some more concern into Buffalo, but it gives the Bucs he opportunity they need to stop the Bills’ offense. If Watkins sits, Tampa will load up to stop the run, something they should be very good at doing. If Buffalo can’t run the ball in the first half, their chances of covering here are not great. However I think a more valuable NFL Pick is on the under here, however taking points might be a good play too.
