The AFC West clash between the Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs is one of several must-see games on week 13's NFL betting board. It's Peyton Manning, Demariyus Thomas and the Broncos battling Alex Smith, Jamal Charles and the Chiefs in Sunday Night Primetime Football. We've got you covered with our NFL game analysis, complete with the latest NFL odds and choice NFL picks.

Denver Broncos Look To Extend Winning Form
Denver Broncos are after a come-from-behind 39-36 win over the Miami Dolphins in week 12 NFL betting at Mile High, a pivotal win that sustains their claim on top spot in the AFC West. Going into week 13, Broncos (8-3 SU, 2-3 away) are matched as the road favourites at 1.5-points and -125 NFL odds to clinch the pivotal win at the expense of their biggest rivals Kansas City Chiefs.

Broncos were playing on the back foot right from the start. The Dolphins came bursting out of the gates to take the lead. They extended the lead to 28-17 going into the fourth quarter to very nearly pull off the big upset, but for three fourth quarter touchdowns that rescued the victory for the hosts. Peyton Manning went 28-of-35 for 257 yards and four touchdowns, three to Demaryius Thomas.

Kansas City Chiefs Must Win
Kansas City Chiefs were left embarrassed, gobsmacked, reeling...(take your pick of the adjectives)...last Thursday behind an improbable 24-20 defeat to the Oakland Raiders. Chiefs went into Thursday Night Primetime Football firmly installed as the 7-point road favourites. They had the 20-17 lead late in the fourth quarter and looked all but certain to win the game until Derek Carr engineered a last gasp drive to score the game winning touchdown and snatch the victory from the Chiefs.

The loss to the Raiders snapped a five-game winning streak by the Chiefs both home and away. Going into week 13 NFL betting, the Chiefs are 7-4 SU (4-1 SU at home and 3-3 SU on the road), tied with the Chargers for second place in the AFC West division. They lost their first meeting with the Broncos this season 24-17 at Mile High. Another loss in this series could potentially put a damper on their playoff hopes. This is a must-win game, in no uncertain terms. Question is can they pull off the feat at the expense of the Broncos, the popular NFL betting pick in most NFL betting circles?

NFL Betting Verdict: Broncos -1.5 over Chiefs
This matchup in all likelihood will determine the division winner, not to mention have playoff implications. That the Chiefs are coming off a loss to the hapless (and then winless) Raiders is a slight cause for concern. To be the team against which one of the NFL weaklings snaps a 16-game losing streak, it's a dubious honour.

It's probably played a part in the decision to send the Chiefs into this game as the home underdogs across sportsbook betting platforms, but they aren't disadvantaged as much as one might have expected they would be, which is probably down to do the Broncos losing of their edge in recent weeks rather than the Chiefs themselves. Case-and-point: last season, when the Chiefs were riding a nine-game winning streak from the start of the season, they arrived in Denver (then 9-1 SU) for the first meeting of the series as the whopping 7.5-point underdogs, albeit they did lose 27-17 to end their impressive run of form. Two weeks later, the reverse of the series, Chiefs were dubbed the hefty 5.5-point home dogs, again going on to lose 35-28 at Arrowhead.

There's an argument to be had about these teams matching up rather well this season, so much so that many NFL bettors are considering the upset by the Chiefs for their NFL picks. After all, the Chiefs rode roughshod over the Patriots at Arrowhead earlier this season. There's also the barely sepia-toned memory of the Broncos' defeat in St. Louis and near loss at home to Miami. Still, we are talking about the Denver Broncos, only one of the best teams in the NFL two seasons running. This is their game to win or lose if they want to successfully defend their title.

Denver boast a 5-5 ATS record this season as the favourites (home and away) with a 7.8-point margin of victory. They're due a renaissance anytime soon, masters of elevating their play when it matters most down the stretch. So we're shading the Broncos on our NFL picks as the 1.5-point favourites and tempting -125 road favourites in straight up betting.
