Oakland Raiders snatched the improbable victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in week 12 NFL betting. Can they roll to two straight wins at the expense of the plucky St. Louis Rams? Find out as we preview this game and deliver our NFL betting verdict complete with NFL picks.

Oakland Raiders Winless No More
The Raiders finally broke into the win column with a victory in week 12 NFL betting. Improbable though it may have seemed  – Raiders were matched as the +290 SU home dogs and the 7-point dogs against the spread  – it was evident to anybody watching the dying minutes of the game how much the victory meant to the team et al. So nervous and edgy were they as they watched the minutes tick away to time, all while the Chiefs were attempting to string together a last-gasp drive. When all was said and done, no team celebrated victory as enthusiastically as the Raiders did in Sunday's round of gridiron.

Derek Carr engineered the Raiders' game winning drive when he led his mates 80-yards down the field to score the game winning touchdown that lifted them to the 24-20 victory with a less than two minutes left on the clock. Alex Smith had a chance to answer this sudden turnaround but the Raiders defense stepped up and time eventually ran out.

Week 13 has the Raiders taking on the plucky St. Louis Rams on the road, a game in which they are installed, once again, as the 7-point underdogs. The upset over the AFC West co-leaders (going into week 12) Kansas City Chiefs was a much-needed morale boost, not to mention validation for a team that has been dumped on for 16-straight games. If the Raiders are to pull off their second straight upset, first back-to-back winning streak since October 2012, they'll need to play some inspired football.

St. Louis Rams Look for Fifth Win
Rams put in another plucky account last week, only to lose 27-24 to San Diego Chargers when Shaun Hill's last-gasp pass was intercepted at the goal line with less than a minute left. It was a heartbreaker for the Rams who were looking to string together back-to-back wins after beating the Denver Broncos in week 11 against the NFL odds.

Rams are only 4-7 SU this season and 2-3 SU at home. They have yet to put together a winning streak this season but they've won their last two home games, which, incidentally, featured last season's Super Bowl contenders. They beat Seattle Seahawks 28-26 on October 19 and Denver Broncos 22-7 on November 16. The mere fact that they held the legendary Peyton Manning to just a touchdown has to send them into Edward Jones Dome with measured confidence against the one-hit wonders.

NFL Betting Verdict
The Rams are poised to make it three in a row at home against the Raiders this Sunday but it remains to be seen whether they can coveras the hefty 7-point home chalk. As it stands, the Rams are just 2-3 SU and ATS at home with a 5.6-point margin of defeat. If we just take their victories at home into consideration, the wins over the Seahawks and Broncos, we have a a 17-point differential (50-to-33) or an 8.5-point margin of victory. Indeed, the Rams would need an inspired performance not unlike their win over the Broncos to cover the 7-point spread.

This is only the second time this season the Rams enter a game as the favourites. In their first game of the season, they were the 3-point faves against the Vikings only to come up short in a 34-6 loss. This is the second time they enter a game as the favourites, which puts all the pressure on them. So far, they've come up big only when they were underestimated and undervalued.

Thing is, the Raiders are 4-1 ATS this season on the road, 6-5 ATS overall. They might not be winning many games for their backers but they've been cashing against the spread, covering spreads that were probably way too large to begin with and reeked off bias and unfair devaluation.  Most recently, they covered three of their last four games, two in a row with covers against the Chargers in week 11 and Chiefs in week 12, both of which were set to 7-points and higher. In fact, the Raiders have covered each and every game in which they were disadvantaged by a touchdown or more.  That is telling.

All in all, it's most likely the Rams will win but this NFL line seems way too inflated. Take the Raiders plus the points on your NFL picks.
