The NFL Season is upon us. Check out our Week 1 Opening Odds Report!
A Lot of people are staying away from this game, seeing the Patriots as almost a double digit favorite. Both teams have questions all over the field, Buffalo has not known who they will start at quarterback, and there is a big difference between the two options. EJ Manuel was the first quarterback drafted in this year’s draft and thought to be the future of the franchise. Jeff Teul was an undrafted free agent who was lucky to make the team after winning just 4 games in his college and high school career combined. EJ Manuel won as many bowl games at Florida State as Teul did games in his high school and college career. News out of Buffalo is that Manuel will start the opener against the Patriots and that is good news for Bills fans.

No matter who starts at quarterback, the Patriots can expect a heavy dose of CJ Spiller. Spiller is one of the game’s most elusive players and in would only make sense that the more touches he gets the better chance he has to break a long one. Stevie Johnson is a difficult Wide out to guard and with former NC State burner TJ Graham entering his second season, and rookies Robert Woods and Marquise Goodwin (an Olympic sprinter) adding to the receiving corps the Bills should be able to spread the field for the mobile Manuel and the elusive Spiller.
The Bills will look to stretch a New England defense that allowed 37 pass plays of more than 25 yards (fourth most in the NFL). The Patriots have Tom Brady and there is no denying what he can and has done to the Bills in the past, but with the loss of Aaron Hernandez, Wes Welker, Brandon Lloyd, Danny Woodhead and Rob Gronkowski (who will not play in the opener) he may not have anyone reliable to throw to. With the new fast passed Bills offense and the lack of weapons on the Patriot offense this game is going to be a lot closer than most people think.
Here are some interesting stats to take in before placing your NFL picks. The Bills are 6-2 against the spread in their last 8 season opener and will cover again this weekend against the overvalued Patriots.
