The winless Carolina Panthers will be without rookie QB Bryce Young due to an ankle injury, so veteran Andy Dalton will step in. Points have hard to come by for Carolina, so it could prove tough for the ‘Red Rifle’ and his mediocre supporting cast to pull off the upset in Seattle.

The Carolina Panthers started 0-2 while scoring under 20 points in each game for the first time since 2010 when they started 0-5 and failed to record 20 points in each of those matchups. Meanwhile, the Seahawks scored at least 20 points in all five regular-season home meetings against Carolina.
Young is the first player this century to record 160 or fewer passing yards and at least 30 attempts in each of his first two NFL starts, and he's likely to miss this game due to injury. Whether it's Young or Dalton under center, either faces a challenge against Seattle’s defense. The Seahawks' D forced negative yardage on 10 opponent rush attempts this season, an NFL-most. Seattle also allowed 2.45 yards per rush on first down in 2023, a league-lowest.
If Carolina relies on its backs to support the QB, it'll have a hard job moving the ball. Seattle’s O-line should withstand an injured Panthers' defensive front. Expect a solid ground game from Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III, who rushed for two TDs last week, along with a choice of top-class receivers at Smith’s disposal.
It's a long trip for the Panthers, who field the weaker roster. The spread is less than a touchdown, so expect Seattle to cover.
