The Giants have been eliminated from playoff contention but will try to please the home faithful with a good showing against the Seahawks. What's our recommended NFL pick?

Odds Overview

The Giants are the home team and that normally brings perks, but not in the NFL odds this week. They're still getting seven points from oddsmakers. New York is 5-8 SU and 5-8 ATS, while Seattle is 11-2 SU and 9-4 ATS.

The O/U is at either 41 or 41.5. Check out more live betting lines at SBRodds.com.

Seattle Seahawks

We knew it would be close and indeed it was when the Seahawks took on the 49ers in San Francisco this past weekend.

Seattle would end up losing 19-17, though they did cash for backers as 2.5-point underdogs. That's now four straight ATS covers for the Seahawks, who have been mighty impressive all season long.

With both of these defenses performing at an elite level, points came at a premium. Russell Wilson couldn't get much going, completing 15-of-22 passes for 199 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Luke Willson caught the score and ended up with a team-high 70 yards on three receptions.

Marshawn Lynch ran hard for 72 yards on 20 carries and a touchdown, while WR Golden Tate (six catches for 65 yards) was also a difference maker. However, a late field goal from San Francisco condemned the Seahawks to only their second defeat.

Seattle has already locked up a playoff spot and would still end up as the number one seed should the season end today, despite the fact they lost to the 49ers. That doesn't mean the Seahawks can afford to let up.

New York Giants

A terrible effort last week officially eliminated Eli Manning and the Giants from any hopes of making the playoffs.

In the 37-14 loss to San Diego (four-point underdogs), New York was dreadful in all facets. Manning and the offense struggled and the defense had no answers for the Chargers.

Manning was 20-of-32 for 259 yards and one touchdown pass, while getting picked off twice. Hakeem Nicks had five receptions for 135 yards, while Brandon Myers was on the receiving end of the touchdown grab. Andre Brown had 16 attempts for 81 yards.

The Giants now return home, where they've been very competitive over the last couple of months.

In their last four home games, they've gone 3-1 SU and 2-2 ATS, with straight up victories over Minnesota (23-7), Oakland (24-20), Green Bay (27-13) and a loss to Dallas (24-21).

NFL Pick

We're going to stay away from the spread. The Seahawks are miles better and have proven they can get it done on the road, but the Giants still have talent on both sides of the ball and could make a game of it here on Sunday.

So, with our NFL picks, we're gravitating towards a total pick. The defenses here stand out (Seattle is #1 in total defense and New York is #10) and that's sure to garner a lot interest in the UNDER, but we actually believe the OVER is the best bet. We'll have lots of playmakers on the field on Sunday and we could easily see this thing turning into more of a shootout then anything else.

The OVER has hit in four of the Giants' six home games this season and we expect it to come through again.
