St. Louis Rams (7-8, 2-5 away)
The St. Louis Rams haven’t packed the U-Haul yet, even though their season is headed nowhere. They are riding a three-game winning streak into the final week of the regular season, underscored by a momentous upset over the Seattle Seahawks in week 16. Few expected the St. Louis Rams to be even competitive at CenturyLink field if the double-digit spread were any indication. Tale told, the Rams defense stifled Russell Wilson and the O-Line, holding them to just a few scores in surprising 23-10 victory by the Rams.

Now, the Rams head to San Francisco to face another NFC West rival in their last curtain call of 2015. The Niners are wholly off colour and form, presenting a rather straightforward obstacle for the steamrolling Rams. Indeed, the Rams are favoured on the road by a field-goal at most sports betting outlets.

The Rams take a 7-8 SU record into week 17, which includes a 7-7-1 ATS record highlighted by a 3.1-point losing margin and a negative 1.4-point differential against the spread. In their last three games, the Rams are averaging 25-points and conceding 18 points. They’ve beaten Detroit, Tampa Bay and Seattle during this run of form, twice coming through as the underdog play on the NFL odds board.

San Francisco 49ers (4-11, 3-4)
San Francisco 49ers are looking to put a forgettable season behind them and it couldn’t come any sooner. The 4-11 bottom line marks the worst record in the NFC (shared by the Cowboys ahead of week 17) and the second worst in the league (shared with the Chargers). Only the Titans and Cowboys (both on 3-12) can claim to be worse than the aforementioned triplet.

Not that it’s any consolation whatsoever for a storied franchise with a proud history in the game. Colin Kaepernick failed to launch in 2015 despite high expectations after working with Kurt Wurner and Blaine Gabbert has hardly been an answer to the quarterback position.

Overall, the Niners are riding a three-game losing streak into week 17, with losses to Cleveland, Cincinnati and Detroit all while being outscored 41-80. Obviously, they’ve also failed to cover in each and every one of those losses, slipping to a 6-9 ATS record with a 10.1-point losing margin and a negative 3.5-point differential versus the spread.

NFL Betting Verdict
Given the contrasting fortunes of both these teams in the last few weeks of the season, never mind the season as a whole, the NFL pick in this game looms rather obvious. The Rams as the 3-point road favourites strike a convincing pose while the Niners as the 3-point home underdogs don’t. There’s absolutely nothing convincing about the Niners to warrant any consideration, simple as that. Earlier in the season, the Rams beat the Niners 27-6, and we expect much of the same here. A lopsided result as the Niners pack the season in while the Rams look to finish on a modest 8-8 SU record.

NFL Picks Explained
Rams -3 (-115) Heritage is the wise NFL pick for this game, but for those convinced this game is going to be a lopsided affair laying an extra half point with the Rams at a whole slew of other sportsbooks can earn you better juice. Such as 3.5 (+103) at Pinnacle.
