Not the sexiest Thursday night matchup this week as Buffalo goes for the season sweep of the AFC East and state-rival New York Jets. Survivor Pick: Buffalo.

Buffalo Bills at New York Jets (+3, 43)

The Bills could be tied for first halfway through the season! If they win Thursday night to improve to 6-2, they will be atop the AFC East with New England (6-2), which is off this week. The Bills haven’t won a division title since 1995 or made the playoffs since 1999, the longest active streak in the NFL. Buffalo goes for the season sweep of the Jets here. In Week 1, the head coaching debut of Sean McDermott, the Bills won 21-12. Tyrod Taylor threw for 224 yards and two scores. LeSean McCoy rushed 22 times for 110 yards. Tight end Charles Clay caught one of those Taylor TD passes but it’s not clear if he will return from injury here. He has missed the past few games following knee surgery. Josh McCown threw for 187 yards and was picked off twice by the Bills – three times if you include a failed 2-point conversion. The Bills lead the all-time series at 61-53. Buffalo is just 1-2 on the road this year and the Jets are 4-0 ATS at home, but I’m still taking Buffalo. It has something to play for and is finally well-coached. Will this be the debut of Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin? He was shockingly acquired from the Panthers on Tuesday.

  • Bills are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 meetings.
  • Jets are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games in November.

Buffalo comes off a 34-14 home win over Oakland on Sunday – that 1 p.m. ET start time appeared to really hurt the Raiders. McCoy rushed for 151 yards with a touchdown and has eight games with at least 150 rushing yards since 2013, the most in the NFL over that span. Safety Micah Hyde had his NFL-leading fifth pick of the year as Buffalo forced four turnovers. The Jets have lost three straight and blown a lead in each of them. It was 25-20 at home to Atlanta on Sunday in some crazy rain. McCown completed 26 of 33 passes for 257 yards with two touchdowns for a 119.3 passer rating last week and is the only quarterback in franchise history with multiple touchdown passes and a 60+ completion percentage in four consecutive games. That’s hard to believe. The Jets tend to play well for three quarters and then fade. They have been outscored by 56 points in the fourth. New York could be without two top defenders here in lineman Mo Wilkerson (shoulder) and cornerback Morris Claiborne (foot).

  • Under is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings.
  • Under is 11-5 in Bills last 16 games in November.
