Tough 10 a.m. Pacific time start for the Raiders, but at least they are on extra rest and it could be worse: a December date in Buffalo. Survivor Pick: Oakland.

Oakland Raiders at Buffalo Bills (-3, 45.5)

Oakland saved its season with last Thursday’s totally wild 31-30 win over Kansas City as Derek Carr led an 85-yard touchdown drive in the final 2:25. The Raiders appeared to score not just one but two go-ahead touchdowns in the final seconds, but the first to Jared Cook was overturned when replay ruled him down at the Chiefs’ 1. Then an offensive pass interference on Michael Crabtree wiped another touchdown on the next play. The Chiefs stopped the Raiders on the next two plays – except they were called for defensive holding each time. Finally, Carr threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Crabtree on the final play. If you were taking Oakland and the 3 points there, well, what a crazy cover.  I did recommend that here at SBR. The Bills came out of their bye week and beat Tampa Bay 30-27 in another one decided late. Cornerback Tre'Davious White forced and recovered a fumble to set up Stephen Hauschka's 30-yard field goal with 14 seconds remaining. It’s the fourth time the Bills have started at least 4-2 during their 17-year playoff drought. I like that Oakland is on extra rest here.

  • Raiders are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 meetings.
  • Bills are 1-3-1 ATS in their past five October games.

Oakland will be without top running back Marshawn Lynch as he was suspended one game for touching an official during a scrum vs. the Chiefs. What’s funny about that is Lynch ran on the field not to help a teammate but Kansas City’s Marcus Peters, an Oakland native and a cousin of Lynch’s. I guess blood is thicker than water. The 27 points the Bills allowed to Tampa were a season high. These teams played last year in Oakland. Buffalo led 24-9 at one point but then collapsed and lost 38-24. It was the Raiders’ biggest comeback win in 16 years. This game won’t come close to matching that total. The weather is likely to keep the scoring down as it’s projected to be in the high 40s in Buffalo on Sunday with a good chance of rain and a bit of wind. Hey, don’t complain Raiders fans, it could be snow!

  • Under is 6-1 in Raiders last 7 road games.
  • Under is 5-2 in Bills last 7 games overall.
