I was hoping for a matchup of perhaps the two most disliked/overrated veteran quarterbacks in the NFL, Miami’s Jay Cutler and Baltimore’s Joe Flacco, but that won’t happen now. Survivor Pick: Miami.

Miami Dolphins at Baltimore Ravens (-3.5, 37.5)

Baltimore has somehow covered seven straight meetings with Miami, including playoffs. Last year, the Ravens ended a six-game winning streak of the Dolphins at the time with a 38-6 wipeout in Baltimore in Week 13. Joe Flacco has his best game of the season with 381 yards and four touchdowns on a team-record 36 completions. It takes him 2-3 games this year, it seems, to get that many yards and/or touchdown passes. Ryan Tannehill was picked off three times. Jay Ajayi rushed for 61 yards but only got 12 carries. It of course won’t be Tannehill this week for the Fins as he was lost for the season in August. It won’t be his replacement, Jay Cutler, either. The struggling Cutler cracked a few ribs in Sunday’s 31-28 home win over the Jets. That actually made Miami fans happy as they have been chanting for backup Matt Moore, and he threw two fourth-quarter touchdown passes to lead the come-from-behind win. Cutler might have lost his job even if he weren’t going to miss 2-3 weeks. Moore was 2-1 as a starter late last regular season in place of Tannehill.

  • Road team is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings.
  • Ravens are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.

I’m taking the points here not because I’m that much of a believer in Moore or the Dolphins but have zero faith in Baltimore’s offense. The only quarterback with a lower rating than Flacco is Browns rookie DeShone Kizer, and he has been benched twice. The Ravens are averaging just 277.6 yards per game overall and 18.6 points. Then again, that’s better than Miami, which is putting up 261.8 yards and 15.3 points. The Dolphins defense is pretty good, ranking in the Top 10 overall. Baltimore’s is good against the pass, surrendering only 189.3 ypg, but awful against the run in giving up 145.3 ypg. Flacco also could be down his top three receivers in Jeremy Maclin, Breshad Perriman and Mike Wallace due to injury. The first two missed Week 7, while Wallace left with the loss to the Vikings with a concussion. If you can name me Baltimore’s next three guys on the WR depth chart, you win a prize (OK, just my respect). I had to look it up! This is going to be ugly offensively.

  • Under is 6-1 in Dolphins last 7 games overall.
  • Under is 11-5 in Ravens last 16 home games.
