Arguably the most intriguing matchup of Week 7 with Deshaun Watson squaring off against Russell Wilson. Watson’s not ready to win in Seattle yet. Survivor Pick: Seattle.

Houston Texans at Seattle Seahawks (-5, 46)

Anyone for a Texans-Seahawks Super Bowl? Not saying it’s likely, but it’s possible as Houston (3-3) is just a game out of first in a very winnable AFC South. The Seahawks (4-2) are a half-game out of first in the NFC West behind the surprising Rams. The story line here to me is the quarterback matchup of Texans rookie Deshaun Watson and a guy some experts have compared him to in Seattle’s Russell Wilson. Houston has an advantage in coming off its bye week, but Wilson has gone 11-0 in his career against AFC teams in games played at CenturyLink Field. That includes victories over future Hall of Famers Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Ben Roethlisberger. Should Wilson win here, that streak would carryover until 2018 because the Seahawks don’t host another AFC team this year (only two each season, already beat Colts in 2017). Seattle has covered the spread in eight of those 11 victories. It’s too bad the NFL shifted the Seahawks from the AFC West to NFC West in the 2002 realignment!

  • Texans are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.
  • Seahawks are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games.

Watson is your NFL Rookie of the Year favorite, all due respect to Kansas City’s Kareem Hunt. The former Clemson star is tied for the AFC lead with 15 touchdown passes (only Philly’s Carson Wentz has more with 17). That total is the most ever by a rookie in his team’s first six games of a season. Watson has thrown at least three TD passes in three consecutive games and is the first rookie in league history to do that. The Texans are absolutely on fire offensively since Week 2, scoring at least 33 points in every game. However, while Watson has played in some tough college atmospheres, he never has played in one quite like Seattle and the noise there. The Seahawks’ defense is usually much better at home, and in the last two games it played really well on the road, too, in shutting down Jared Goff and Eli Manning. Oh, and no rookie quarterback has won a start in Seattle since Andy Dalton in 2011.

  • Under is 8-3 in Texans last 11 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.
  • Under is 4-1 in Seahawks last 5 games in October.
