The loser of Sunday’s game between the blood-rival Cowboys and Redskins can essentially forget about winning the NFC East Division this year. Survivor Pick: Dallas.

Dallas Cowboys at Washington Redskins (+2, 50.5)

The Philadelphia Eagles have the best record in the NFL at 6-1 and they surely will be 7-1 after Sunday considering the Iggles host the winless San Francisco 49ers. The Cowboys and Redskins are both 3-3. Thus, the loser can forget about winning the division and concentrate only on a potential wild-card spot. Frankly, Washington is probably already eliminated in the NFC East with two losses to the Eagles – including 34-24 on Monday night. Thus, it’s a short week and one reason why I’ll take Dallas on the road here (see trend below). The Cowboys have yet to play Philadelphia. This could be the last time Dallas star running back Ezekiel Elliott plays for a while. A court decision on whether the NFL will be able to reinstate his six-game suspension is due early next week. If Elliott keeps the injunction in place, he should be fine until the start of next season. If not, the Cowboys are up the creek as they have some very tough games over the next six weeks. The Cowboys swept the Redskins last year, although both were close: 27-23 in Maryland and 31-26 on Thanksgiving in Big D. I would take Washington if Elliott was out, but since he’s not …

  • Road team is 6-0 ATS in their last 6 meetings.
  • Redskins are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games when playing on Sunday following a Monday night game.

The Cowboys looked great last week coming out of their bye and stomping the 49ers 40-10. Yeah, the Niners are winless but they largely had been very competitive. Dak Prescott threw three TD passes and rushed for another.  Elliott had 147 yards rushing with two scores and 72 receiving with a touchdown. Prescott already has seven career games with at least three touchdown passes with one or zero interceptions. Only Dan Marino with nine had more such games in a player’s first two seasons. Meanwhile, Skins QB Kirk Cousins is having another fine season, ranking among the NFL leaders in rating (107.2), yards per game (273), yards per attempt (8.27) and completion percentage (68.2). However, he might be running for his life in this one as the Skins are very banged up on the O-Line. Four of the five starters and the top backup are dealing with injuries. The two best up there, right guard Brandon Scherff and left tackle Trent Williams, both could sit Sunday. Right tackle Morgan Moses (two sprained ankles) and center Spencer Long (knee quad tendonitis) both left vs. the Eagles.

  • Over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
  • Over is 8-2 in Redskins last 10 vs. NFC East.
