Week 7 of the NFL season is in the books and the NFL Odds for Week 8 have opened with some steady movement in multiple markets. Find out which ones might move more, or which ones may still have value.
Atlanta Falcons vs. Carolina Panthers
Thursday, October 29, 2020 – 08:20 PM EDT – Bank of America Stadium
Thursday night kicks off a huge slate of divisional matchups in Week 8 and this one has the Panthers as -2 ½ to -3 favorites. That is up from -1 and that can only mean that Christian McCaffrey has a chance to return. It might be wise of the Panthers to give him one more week so he can use the extra time between Weeks 8 and 9 to get fully healthy, especially because the Falcons’ defense is so bad, Teddy Touchdowns and Company may not need him just yet.
Indianapolis Colts vs. Detroit Lions
Sunday, November 01, 2020 - 01:00 PM EST at Ford Field
The Colts had a bye week to get their stuff together in Week 7 and now they are on the road against their neighbors to the north, the Lions. Indy is one of a handful of road favorites this week and while I’m not ready to believe in the “Philip Rivers is back,” hype, there will definitely be points scored in this game.
Minnesota Vikings vs. Green Bay Packers
Sunday, November 01, 2020 - 01:00 PM EST - Lambeau Field
The first of many good divisional games in the Week 8 slate starts with the Vikings on the road in the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field. The top sportsbooks have the Packers as -7 favorites in this one and if they get Aaron Jones back this week that number could go up, to be honest. Watch this line and the weather report in Green Bay.
The forecast is calling for 20 mph winds and temperatures in the 30s to start the game. With a total of 54 ½ points that could make the under a strong wager. Bettors have already bet down this total from 56 where it opened and it would not surprise me to see it move further if the winds are going to be strong.
New England Patriots vs. Buffalo Bills
Sunday, November 01, 2020 - 01:00 PM EST - Bills Stadium
The Patriots aren’t cooked yet in their division despite starting the year 2 - 4, but they are going to need to win about every one of their divisional games from here on out, and it starts with their first of two games against the Bills. Buffalo comes into this one as a -3 favorite with a total of 43, and with the weather looking potentially wet, under bettors have come for this line early and often. If there is rain or sleet in the forecast, this total could dip even more.
Tennessee Titans vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Sunday, November 01, 2020 - 01:00 PM EST - Paul Brown Stadium
Stephen Gostkowski may be one missed kick away from being cut after he lost the Titans their unbeaten record in Week 7. However, at the very least Titans' bettors can take solace that that missed kick was to tie and not win the game. However, the Bengals have been showing some fight lately and this game against them will not be easy for Tennessee. The Titans have been taking a lot of early action though, moving from -3 ½ to -5 ½ favorites in the early NFL odds.
Las Vegas Raiders vs. Cleveland Browns
Sunday, November 01, 2020 - 01:00 PM EST - FirstEnergy Stadium
Later in this piece, I declare the Ravens and Steelers are the best game on the early slate, but this one may rival that if we get the Baker Mayfield from the second quarter on from last week. NFL oddsmakers have the Browns sitting at -3 favorites, but there are some -2 ½ lines poking out across most shops right now. Points are definitely expected in this one, as this is one of four games that have totals of 54 or higher.
New York Jets vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Sunday, November 01, 2020 - 01:00 PM EST - Arrowhead Stadium
In what may be the biggest opening line I have ever seen in pro football; the sportbooks opened the Chiefs as -21 ½ favorites against the Jets. These lines are rarely employed in the NFL, but they apparently had to break out the college football model to set these lines. However, as surprising as this may sound, those odds have shortened some since opening and they now sit anywhere from +20 ½ to +19.
Los Angeles Rams vs. Miami Dolphins
Sunday, November 01, 2020 - 01:00 PM EST - Hard Rock Stadium
The Rams are coming off a win, but doing it on a short week that they have to travel across the country for. Whether or not that affects them Sunday remains to be seen, but bettors and NFL oddsmakers don’t seem too worried. The Rams opened as -3 ½ road favorites and the line has since moved to -4 at most shops.
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Baltimore Ravens
Sunday, November 01, 2020 - 01:00 PM EST - M&T Bank Stadium
Only eight games line the early afternoon slate on the first day of November, but without a doubt, this is the best one to watch. The AFC North foes are jockeying for control of the division in the first of two matchups against one another and with the game in Baltimore, NFL oddsmakers are putting the undefeated Steelers as +3 ½ underdogs. However, that has since come down from +7, so there are some people that have NFL picks with some very nice closing line value on the Steelers if the +3 ½ holds.
LA Chargers vs. Denver Broncos
Sunday, November 01, 2020 - 04:05 PM EST - Empower Field at Mile High
The Broncos got cooked in the snow by the Chiefs in Week 7, however, the weather for this week looks much better for the home team. However, bettors have not seen it that way in early week action. After the NFL oddsmakers opened this line at a pick em, it has since shot up in favor of the road Chargers, and the Broncos now sit as +3 home dogs.
New Orleans Saints vs. Chicago Bears
Sunday, November 01, 2020 - 04:25 PM EST - Soldier Field
It doesn’t seem to matter who the Bears have starting at quarterback because it remains one of the only weaknesses this team has right now. They are back at home this week after two weeks on the road though, but they are also one of six home dogs in Week 8. NFL oddsmakers have the Saints as -4 favorites and if New Orleans can get some of their skill players, namely Michael Thomas, back this week, the Bears may be in trouble.
San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks
Sunday, November 01, 2020 - 04:25 PM EST - CenturyLink Field
Unlike the NFC East, the NFC West has been torture this season. All four teams are above .500 and both of these teams have been immensely entertaining. The Niners are still banged up, but they are still +7 dogs this week in Seattle. The Hawks may have lost their first game in thrilling fashion on the road in Week 7, but a home divisional game is just what the doctor order to get Chef Russ Wilson back cooking in the kitchen.
Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Sunday, November 01, 2020 - 08:20 PM EST - Lincoln Financial Field
Sunday Night Football is usually reserved for epic showdowns and not crappy NFC East games, but alas, here we are. Maybe with the league liberally moving around games this season because of Covid-19 could flip another (any) game into the Sunday Night spot? Asking for me and several million of my closest friends? Nevertheless, this game will be played regardless of time slot and the Eagles are -3 ½ favorites as of now.
Tampa Bay Bucs vs. New York Giants
Monday, November 02, 2020 - 08:15 PM EST - MetLife Stadium
I know it’s still somewhat early in the 2020 NFL season but one thing is pretty clear so far this season is that Tom Brady may not be a system quarterback like all these Patriots' fans were saying once New England got Cam Newton.
The Bucs have been on a roll and now with Antonio Brown in the fold for the rest of the season, this week’s Monday Night Football matchup may be a bloodbath. The best sportsbooks are laying over 10 points with the Bucs in this game, even on the road. Almost all the action has been on the Bucs so far, moving the line from -9 ½ to -10 ½.
