We kick off week 7 with this NFC North divisional contest between the Bears and Packers. Chicago enters at 1-5 SU off consecutive losses to Indy and Jacksonville while Green Bay is 3-2 SU. Join expert capper as he reveals his NFL pick for this showdown.

Chicago Bears vs Green Bay Packers

Chicago has won 2 of the last 3 years at Lambeau Field, including 31-23 last November 26th, profiting from 2 Green Bay TOs to win the game despite being outrushed 177-101. Even with that recent success at that site, the Packers have still owned this series the last 5 years with a record of 8-2 SU ATS.

Green Bay entered last Sunday’s matchup at Dallas with the league’s best rushing defense at 22/43/2.0. But, the 5-1 SU ATS Cowboys trampled that rush defense with numbers of 33/191 to 24/78. So much for defense prevailing over offense! After that embarrassing loss, Green Bay returns to this field just 4 days later to host this divisional rival. Green Bay has a long history of divisional success, including 10-5 ATS of late as division home chalk. Then, of course, there is the fact that QB Rodgers has been like money in the bank in this role with a record of 25-14 ATS off a loss. But, Rodgers has been far from his normal self this year with low water marks in his completion percentage (60%) and passer rating through the first 5 games. Despite the Green Bay success in this series, it is tough to trust them in this role, knowing that NFL dogs for the year are 49-38 ATS.

Enter the Chicago Bears who, despite their 1-5 SU ATS mark, have far more to recommend. From a statistical perspective, the Bears actually have the better offense (375-332 yards) and a defense that is equally good at 341-339 yards. Much of the offense success has been behind QB Hoyer who, since being inserted into the starting role, has passed for 1,318 yards with a 6/0 ratio. Despite beating only Detroit in the last 3 games, the Bears have outrushed each of their previous 3 opponents. With the Bears’ poor finish to last season, they now enter this game on a 2-9 ATS slide. Yet, they continue to show progress each week under 2nd year HC Fox. The loss to Jacksonville last week on a last minute FG will bring them hunger for this Marquee Matchup against their divisional rival and the fact they beat the Packers 2/3 years at this site will give them confidence.

That’s not enough for a strong selection on the Bears tonight. Rather, consider it a recommendation to avoid Green Bay as favorite, until Rodgers gets back on track and the defense returns to form. I invite you to put the NFL odds in your favor and join me in my NFL week 7 pick on the Chicago Bears tonight.
