The Ravens and Jets will face for Sunday's action. Will the Ravens or the Jets snap the negative trend at MetLife? Find out as we preview this game and serve up a choice week 7 NFL pick.

Baltimore Ravens (3-3 SU, 2-1 away)

The Ravens are riding a three-game losing streak into week 7. Losses to Oakland, Washington, and NY Giants turned a 3-0 SU season on its head. Now the Ravens are merely 3-3 SU – ceding top spot in the AFC North to Pittsburgh Steelers – and looking to avoid a fourth straight loss that would plunge them under .500.

If there’s a bright spot for the Ravens it’s a 2-1 SU record on the road that includes a 2-1 ATS mark underscored by a 1.0 winning margin and 0.0 differential versus the spread. That those wins came over struggling teams such as divisional rivals Cleveland Browns and intra-conference rivals Jacksonville Jaguars makes no difference to this matchup. After all, the Jets are 1-5 SU and riding a four-game losing streak into week 7 NFL betting.

Teams like the Jets the Ravens are defeating without too much fuss. Those are teams with stuttering offenses and, at the same time, porous defenses. Where the Ravens are struggling is keeping pace with lightning offenses as evinced in losses to Raiders, Redskins, and Giants.

From what we’ve seen of the Jets offense that won’t be an issue. The Jets through six games were outscored 95 to 164 and the last defeat was the most horrendous of them all, a 28-3 loss to the Cardinals on Monday Night Football.

New York Jets (1-5 SU, 0-2 home)

Todd Bowles needs to go to the drawing board fast because the way his team is going it’s in danger of finishing amongst the worst in the NFL. As it is, they’re holding court with the Browns, Bears, Niners and (shockingly) Panthers.

There’s an argument to be had about the quality of opponents the Jets have faced over the course of these six games. Stop units that are amongst the top ten, teams that are considered viable contenders and elite quarterbacks make for a tough six-game stretch at the start of the season. However, the Jets have plenty of big names on their roster too such as Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker and Matt Forte and the fact that they’re barely registering on the scoreboard is downright inexplicable. It doesn’t help team morale either that Fitzpatrick was benched in the fourth quarter of Monday’s forgettable defeat at the University of Phoenix Stadium.

NFL Betting Verdict

To be fair both teams have their sets of issues going into week 7, which makes handicapping this game a bit of a trial. The Ravens are on a three-game losing streak and have been hit by a slew of injuries in the secondary. It’s impossible to ignore these facts but, at the same time, how the Jets can be favored to win in money line markets (at -120 NFL odds or thereabouts) and laying -1 at home when their offense is producing barely 14 points per game is a headscratcher. Not least the Jets defense can’t seem to defend against the pass no matter what it does. If Joe Flacco and Company can’t get a result this time at MetLife then they’re just as bad as the Jets are. We think they’re better than that and, as such, we’re taking the points with the Ravens on our week 7 NFL picks.
