Entering the season, the Oakland Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars were considered two rising powers in the AFC. The early conclusion? More likely on Oakland. Join expert capper as he previews this game concluding with an NFL pick.

Raiders What To Watch For

Sometimes young teams play flat because they are still learning to win. I think that's what happened on Sunday for the Raiders (4-2) as they had a three-game winning streak end in being dominated at home 26-10 by a Kansas City Chiefs team that had been struggling -- but did come off the bye week.

Oakland allowed the offensively mediocre Chiefs to put up 406 yards, including 183 on the ground. Kansas City QB Alex Smith missed on just four passes. The Raiders were held to 286 yards, couldn't run the ball and turned it over twice. Oakland scored on its first  drive and then managed only a field goal the rest of the way. Derek Carr had his worst game of the  year in completing 55 percent of his passes while under pressure and was sacked twice, also throwing an interception and losing a fumble. The lone offensive bright spot was Amari Cooper catching 10 passes for 129 yards (but just one grab for 12 yards in the second half), becoming the first Raider to secure 10 receptions in a game since 2012.

The Raiders played a second straight game without top running back Latavius Murray due to a toe injury. He's questionable for this one. Murray is averaging 4.3 yards per carry, but since he has been sidelined the rookie duo of DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard has averaged 3.6 yards per carry.

I guess it's a good thing that the Raiders are tied for the AFC West lead even though they are last in the NFL by a mile in allowing 444.8 yards per game and last against the pass (312.7 ypg). Oakland is 3-3 ATS and 4-2 O/U on NFL odds this year .

Jaguars What To Watch For

I previewed Jacksonville's game last week in Chicago and took the Jaguars getting 3 points even though they had been 4-21 on the road under Coach Gus Bradley. But the Jaguars rallied from a 13-0 fourth-quarter deficit to stun the Bears 17-16. Blake Bortles hit Arrelious Benn on the winning 51-yard touchdown pass with 2:49 to go; Benn did most of the work as he fell to the ground while making the catch but wasn't touched by any Bears defense and thus got up and ran 40 yards or so into the end zone. Guy hadn't scored in five years and hadn't played an NFL regular-season game before this season since 2012.

Bortles was 20 of 33 for 271 yards but had two more turnovers (nine this season) with an interception and a lost fumble. He did play better once the Jaguars went to a no-huddle so you might see more of that. The Jaguars averaged just 2.7 yards per carry and were 2-for-10 on third down while allowing nearly 400 yards to the Bears.

Jacksonville didn't really deserve to win, but when you steal one like that it can be a huge confidence booster. It was only the second time in team history that the Jaguars won a road game in which it was trailing by at least 13 points after three-quarters. The other was in Week 15 of 1996 against Baltimore. Believe it or not, Jacksonville's 2-3 start is the team's best since 2010.

The Jaguars are 3-2 ATS on picks this season and 3-2 O/U.  Raiders head Jack Del Rio coached the Jags from 2003-11 and returns to EverBank Field for the first time since he was fired late in the 2011 season.

Oakland Raiders vs Jacksonville Jaguars

Like the total here the best as I expect a shootout so go 'over.' It is 10-3-2 in Oakland's past 15 vs. teams with a winning record and 7-3 in Jacksonville's past 10 at home. Take the Jags for your NFL week 7 pick as it's a tough 10 a.m. Pacific time kick for Oakland. The Raiders are 1-5 ATS in the past six meetings.
