Just two winless teams left in the NFL and both the teams many expected: Cleveland and San Francisco. Could the Browns get a W against the Titans on a short week? Survivor Pick: Tennessee.

Tennessee Titans at Cleveland Browns (+5.5, 46.5)

In 2014-15, the Titans were just as inept as the Browns as Tennessee won just five games combined over those two seasons. But the Titans solved their biggest problem, quarterback, by taking Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota from Oregon at No. 2 overall in 2015. Now Tennessee is a legit contender in the AFC South. Cleveland? I’m sure I don’t need to recap all of its quarterback issues, but it’s almost laughable how often that franchise has blown draft picks by either not taking a quarterback at all (like in this year’s first round) or choosing the wrong one. I do think this is a potential trap game for the Titans, though, as they are on a short week after beating Indianapolis on Monday night. Plus, perhaps they are looking ahead to next week’s bye. If the Browns are going to win a game, it surely will be at home. I can’t bring myself to take Cleveland on the spread here, but just know I was thinking about it.

  • Titans are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings in Cleveland.
  • Browns are 3-13 ATS in their last 16 home games.

Mariota returned Monday from his one-game absence due to a hamstring injury and his mobility was limited in the 36-22 victory vs. the Colts, but he threw for 306 yards and a touchdown and came out of it without any setbacks. It sounds like Titans coach Mike Mularkey is going to a timeshare at running back because both Derrick Henry and DeMarco Murray both played 39 snaps Monday. Mularkey says that’s a “good model.” Meanwhile, the one-week Kevin Hogan experiment at quarterback apparently will end for the Browns. He wasn’t good in last week’s 33-17 loss to Houston, going 20 of 37 for 140 yards and three picks. This year’s second-round pick, DeShone Kizer, will return to his starting role. Embattled coach Hue Jackson benched Kizer after he threw an NFL-high nine picks and had five red-zone turnovers in the first five games. Jackson wanted the former Notre Dame star to regroup mentally but always planned to start him again this season.

  • Under is 4-1 in Titans last 5 games after accumulating more than 350 total yards in their previous game.
  • Under is 12-2 in Browns last 14 home games.
