A break for Seattle here from the NFL’s schedule-makers as this game is at 4:25 p.m. ET instead of a 10 a.m. Pacific time kickoff. That helps in a big way. Survivor Pick: Seattle.

Seattle Seahawks at New York Giants (+5, 40)

Did you know these are the last two teams from the NFC to win a Super Bowl? The Seahawks played at MetLife Stadium last year, but that was against the Jets. Seattle last played the Giants in Week 10 of the 2014 season in the Pacific Northwest. The Seahawks won 38-17. Current Oakland Raider Marshawn Lynch rushed for 140 yards and a career-high four scores. Russell Wilson was picked off twice but ran for 107 and a TD. Eli Manning threw for 283 yards, a TD and a pick. I don’t know about you, but the Giants blew up my Survivor Pool last week. Big Blue was missing a ton of players on both sides of the ball due to injury and visiting a Denver team that was coming off its bye week and nearly a two-touchdown favorite. So, naturally, the Giants won 23-10. Coach Ben McAdoo finally gave up calling the offensive plays, and New York was very run-heavy with coordinator Mike Sullivan making the calls. Orleans Darkwa, no doubt a popular fantasy football waiver-wire pickup this week, had 117 yards on 21 carries. The Broncos entered with by far the NFL’s best rush defense. That result simply made no sense. Seattle, meanwhile, comes off its bye. Big Blue is still missing too many key guys.

  • Giants are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up win.
  • Seahawks are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games in October.

Of course, New York lost receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Brandon Marshall for the season in Week 5, but it could get back Sterling Shepard on Sunday. He missed the Broncos game with an ankle injury but practiced in a limited fashion early this week. The Giants wide receivers had just two catches for 22 yards against Denver. Shepard is third on the Giants with 22 catches for 263 yards and a touchdown this season. I simply can’t see New York scoring much against a rested Seattle defense that maybe isn’t as good as when the Seahawks were in back-to-back Super Bowls but is still formidable. Seattle ranks No. 8 in total defense, No. 9 against the pass and No. 6 in points allowed (17.4 ppg). Manning needs 320 passing yards to become the seventh quarterback in NFL history to reach 50,000 (Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Dan Marino, John Elway). Manning has averaged 290.7 yards in seven career games against the Seahawks but he’s not getting close to that this time.

  • Under is 4-1 in Seahawks last 5 vs. NFC.
  • Under is 5-1 in Giants last 6 home games.
