If you aren’t a fan of the color purple (not the movie), then you probably won’t want to tune into the Ravens-Vikings matchups because it will be awash in it. Survivor Pick: Minnesota.

Baltimore Ravens at Minnesota Vikings (+5.5, 40)

You don’t wish injury on any player – at least, you shouldn’t – but probably no team had a better Week 6 than the Vikings. They are now favored to win the NFC North for the second time in three years after upsetting the Green Bay Packers 23-10. The win was fine enough, but the big thing was that Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr broke the collarbone of Aaron Rodgers. He needs surgery and is probably out for the season, and that changes not just the North Division but the entire NFC. I see no reason why the Vikings can’t win the division with their excellent defense as long as they get solid QB play from Case Keenum, Sam Bradford or even possibly Teddy Bridgewater. It will be Keenum again here. The Ravens had a terrible Week 6 as they lost 27-24 in overtime to the Bears. Baltimore had never lost at home under John Harbaugh to a rookie quarterback. What made that defeat even more puzzling was the Ravens scored two special teams touchdowns. Entering Week 6, teams that had scored multiple touchdowns on special teams over the past 10 seasons were 18-3 (.857). The Ravens simply aren’t any good.

  • Ravens are 5-14-2 ATS in their last 21 games following a straight up loss.
  • Vikings are 20-6 ATS in their last 26 home games.

I vote Baltimore QB Joe Flacco as the NFL’s most overpaid player. He has a rating of 66.1 that’s only ahead of Browns second-round rookie DeShone Kizer, and Kizer was benched last week. Flacco has thrown for just 1,003 yards with four touchdowns and eight picks. I’m not sure how the Ravens score more than about 14 points here because Flacco sucks and Minnesota isn’t going to let Baltimore run the ball. The Vikings run defense has held opponents to 78.7 yards per game (third in the NFL) and 3.2 yards per rush (third in the NFL). They also likely will get to Flacco as defensive end Everson Griffen is one of two defenders in the NFL to have one sack in every game in 2017. Griffen is two shy of setting the team record for consecutive games with a sack. Minnesota’s D also is No. 1 in the NFL on third down, holding opponents to a NFL-best 25.0 percent (18-for-72) conversion rate on third downs.

  • Under is 4-1 in Ravens last 5 games on fieldturf.
  • Under is 5-0 in Vikings last 5 games in October.
