Week 7 is about to come to a close, but not before we get a few more winning NFL Picks for Monday night.
The Eagles’ passing defense has been a bit suspect this season, allowing opposing offenses, to rack up 273.5 passing yards per game. However, the main reason for this huge average is the Eagles’ rushing defense.
Philadelphia has the number one ranked rushing defense in the NFL, and teams have been basically forced to throw against them. This has led to the Eagles’ giving up some points, but they still rank 12th best in the NFL in points allowed at 20.3.
Now the Redskins are coming to town and the total for their points are just above that seasonal average at 22 ½. There are a few reasons I like the under in this one, but the main one is the Redskins aren’t great when they are one-dimensional.
Washington is 1-1 in games where they rush for less than 100 yards, and they are 2-1 when they get more than 100 yards.
This past week was one they won with less than 100 yards rushing, but that was against the 49ers. This week against the Eagles’ and their stacked front seven, I doubt Washington is able to amount much offense on the road. They have been able to score on the road under Kirk Cousins, but against better defenses it’s been spotty.
In Week 1 at home, Washington gave up 30 points and couldn’t get anything going on the ground against the Eagles, and now that the game has shifted to Philadelphia, I think it might be even worse for the Skins.Free NFL Pick: UNDER 22.5 (-105)Best Line Offered: at Bovada
Kirk Cousins O/U 275.5 Passing Yards
I’m using this pick as both a great play, and a hedge against the pick above this one, so while Cousins could have some trouble moving the ball again, he has been so red-hot recently, that’s it’s hard to fade him here.
Cousins only racked up 240 passing yards the first time these two teams hooked up on opening weekend, but he has just gotten better since that first game. Cousins has racked up 300-plus yards in two of the last three games, and against a questionable Eagles secondary, I see him getting north of 275 tonight.
A big reason for this has been his efficiency over the last three weeks. Cousins is averaging better than 10 yards per pass attempt over his last three starts, compared to just 6.3 in his first two games.
Assuming the Eagles stop the run, I am looking for Cousins to put the ball in the air at least 30 times in this one, and if he stays true to the 10 yards per attempt, the over is a fine bet. Let’s just hope the Skins fail to get into the end zone as well to cash a pair of NFL Picks.Free NFL Pick: OVER 275.5 (-125)Best Line Offered: at Bovada
