What’s more surprising entering Week 6? That the Patriots are 3-2 or that the Jets are as well? I doubt anyone predicted they would have the same record once this season after 0-0. Survivor Pick: New England.

New England Patriots at NY Jets (-9.5, 47.5)

Tom Brady will several NFL records whenever he retires – if the cyborg ever does – but he can attain another here. He has won 186 regular-season games as a starting quarterback. That’s tied for the most with Brett Favre and Peyton Manning. Brady, 40, already owns the most career wins (211) overall by a starting quarterback in NFL history, including his 25 playoff victories and five Super Bowl titles. Brady's 186 career regular-season victories with the Patriots is the most by a starting QB with one team. Favre is second with 160 in Green Bay. Of course, Manning played for both the Colts and Broncos. The Jets’ season win total was 4.5 at most sportsbooks entering the season. I know of several experts who didn’t predict the Jets would win more than two games – much less win three straight. To be fair, those wins have come against the offensively putrid Dolphins, the inconsistent Jaguars and, last week, the god-awful Browns. Could Coach Todd Bowles actually save his job?

  • Patriots are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 road games.
  • Jets are 1-5 ATS in their past six after allowing more than 250 yards passing in the previous game.

The Patriots are on extra rest after winning 19-14 in Tampa Bay last Thursday as their defense entered as the worst in the NFL in yards allowed and second-worst in points. And while the Bucs did have 409 yards, most of that was in the fourth quarter as they tried in vain to rally. New England played without Pro Bowl tight end Rob Gronkowski, a late scratch. He’s likely to go here. The more Gronk plays, the more money he makes. Gronkowski has played 257 of 365 offensive snaps (70.4 percent) this season. One way for him to hit his top tier of $10.75 million in his contract with incentives is to reach 90 percent playing time. New York could be down its top two running backs for this one in Matt Forte and Bilal Powell. Forte has missed the past two with turf toe and Powell strained a calf muscle in the win over Cleveland. There's a good chance the Jets will have to start rookie Elijah McGuire this week. The Jets managed 20 total points in being swept by the Pats last year.

  • Under is 9-4 in Patriots last 13 road games.
  • Under is 4-0 in Jets last 4 vs. AFC East.
