The Rams look like geniuses for hiring Coach Sean McVay this offseason as he has totally transformed that team. L.A. could take early command of the NFC West with a win Sunday. Survivor Pick: Seattle.

Seattle Seahawks at Los Angeles Rams (-1, 47)

Of course, both Los Angeles teams hired new coaches this past offseason. The Chargers landing former Bills offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn was met with yawns, and the Bolts are 0-4 and not drawing flies at home. The Rams made Redskins offensive coordinator Sean McVay the youngest head coach in modern NFL history and he’s the clear Coach of the Year favorite with L.A. atop the NFC West and leading the league in offense a season after being totally inept on that side of the ball. Seattle didn’t play well the first three weeks or for about a half of last Sunday night’s game vs. Indianapolis but then woke up and blew out the Colts 46-18. However, rookie starting running back Chris Carson was lost to a broken leg. So now the Hawks will use some sort of committee of Thomas Rawls, Eddie Lacy, C.J. Prosise and J.D. McKissic. Adjust your fantasy league accordingly. I’m not believing in the Rams yet but will if they win this game.

  • Seahawks are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games after scoring more than 30 points in their previous game.
  • Rams are 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 games overall.

Here’s hoping this game is more interesting than when Seattle visited the Coliseum in Week 2 last year and lost 9-3 – perhaps the ugliest game of 2016. Three Greg Zuerlein field goals were the difference. Case Keenum was the L.A. quarterback that day, but this is Jared Goff’s team now. He was 0-7 as a starter last year after taking over for Keenum but now his quarterback rating has almost doubled to 112.2. Running back Todd Gurley was the 2015 Offensive Rookie of the Year but regressed in 2016. He looks reborn as well with more this season (seven) than he did in all of 2016. He not only leads the team in rushing but is the Rams’ leading receiver with 20 catches for 234 yards and three touchdowns. Still, this will be the best defense the Rams have seen thus far. The Seahawks held the Colts to 32 net yards in the second half last Sunday and Seattle had two defensive touchdowns for the first time in five years.

  • Under is 8-3 in Rams last 11 vs. NFC West.
  • Under is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings.
