Two franchises that simply don’t like each other, Pittsburgh and Baltimore, look to bounce back from ugly losses last week. The winner takes sole possession of first in the AFC North. Survivor Pick: Baltimore.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens (+2.5, 44.5)

Back when guys like Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and Troy Polamalu were still playing, Steelers-Ravens was the most intense and hard-hitting rivalry in the NFL. It might not be quite that these days but it’s still heated. The winner here gets a key early tiebreaker. The Steelers perhaps were too focused on protesting the national anthem last week in Chicago as they were upset 23-17 in overtime as 7-point favorites. Pittsburgh allowed 220 yards rushing, which is unacceptable against a one-dimensional team like the Bears. The Ravens went to London in Week 3 and frankly forgot to get off the plane or something as they were crushed by Jacksonville 44-7. Hard to know if Baltimore is any good considering its two wins are against winless Cincinnati and Cleveland. But the home team tends to win a close game in this series. I’m hoping to get 3-3.5 points by kickoff.

  • Steelers are 0-4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings.
  • Ravens are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 vs. AFC North.

For a few years now, Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger simply hasn’t been the same player away from home. He was just OK against the Bears, completing 22 of 39 for 235 yards with a touchdown. His rating in two road games this year is 88.6 compared to 104.8 at home. Last year it was 78.4 on the road and 116.7 at home. These teams split last year, each winning at home. The game in Baltimore was a 21-14 Ravens win, and I expect a similar type score here. Big Ben was 8 for 18 for 54 yards and an interception through three quarters. The Steelers scored two garbage TDs to make it respectable. Baltimore's only touchdown offensively came on Joe Flacco's 95-yard pass to former Steeler Mike Wallace.

  • Under is 3-1-1 in the last 5 meetings.
  • Under is 10-4 in Ravens last 14 home games.
