Sure, everyone predicted the New York Jets would win their first game in 2017 before the New York Giants, a playoff team in 2017, would. Expect 0-4 for Big Blue. Survivor Pick: Tampa Bay.

New York Giants at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-3, 43.5)

Tampa Bay is just 6-14 all-time against the Giants and has lost the past five meetings. The most recently played was on Nov. 8, 2015, a 32-18 New York road win. Eli Manning threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns. Then a rookie, Jameis Winston was 19-for-36 for 247 yards with no TDs. He did rush for one to bring the Bucs within 20-18 with 9:25 left in the fourth, but Tampa missed the 2-point conversion and obviously didn’t score again. These Giants are one of five winless teams – and would have to be the most unlikely one considering their 11 wins last year. The Bucs looked great in their lone home game thus far but terrible in their one road outing. They have played just twice after a Week 1 matchup in Miami was postponed due to Hurricane Irma. I’m assuming home cooking will be in play here. Plus, the heat and humidity work in Tampa’s favor.

  • Giants are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS win.
  • Buccaneers are 6-2 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.

New York offense was inept the first two weeks. Is it fixed after scoring 24 in last week’s loss in Philadelphia? I wouldn’t go that far because the Giants were scoreless entering the fourth quarter before Manning got hot with three touchdown passes. Two of those went to Odell Beckham Jr., who embarrassed himself and the organization with a silly post-TD celebration simulating a dog urinating. Guy’s an amazing talent but a knucklehead. After crushing the visiting Bears 29-7 in Week 2, the Bucs laid an egg in Minnesota last Sunday, 34-17, getting torched by career journeyman Case Keenum. One of Tampa’s best defenders, linebacker Lavonte David, left the game with an ankle injury and likely won’t play here. The Bucs are banged up defensively, but I still lean the over here in not trusting New York’s offense.

  • Under is 8-3 in Giants past 11 road games.
  • Under is 4-0 in Buccaneers last 4 home games.
