The Los Angeles Rams already are halfway to their 2016 win total. They catch two breaks for this game: Rams are on extra rest after playing Thursday in Week 3 and the Cowboys are on a short week. Survivor Pick: Dallas.

Los Angeles Rams at Dallas Cowboys (-8.5, 46.5)

How smart are the Rams looking right now for hiring the youngest head coach in modern NFL history in former Redskins offensive coordinator Sean McVay? This looks like a completely different team than the bungling group under Jeff Fisher last year. The freaking Rams lead the NFC West by a game over the Seahawks and Cardinals. Will L.A. take that division? Almost certainly not, but there has been great progress. The Cowboys as noted above are on a short week after winning in Arizona on Monday night, 28-17. It was a tale of two halves for Dallas, which was dominated before halftime. Ezekiel Elliott bounced back from the worst game of his young career with 22 carries for 80 yards and a touchdown. Dallas has won the past three vs. the Rams, most recently 34-31 in St. Louis in 2014. The Cowboys will win here, too, but that’s too many points.

  • Cowboys are 1-6 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
  • Cowboys are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.

It would often take the Rams several weeks to score 40 points in 2016 but they already have scored at least that many twice this year. Jared Goff looks like a legitimate NFL quarterback with a fabulous rating of 118.2, 817 yards passing and five TDs. Todd Gurley is back to his 2015 rookie form with six total touchdowns. McVay has to be the early NFL Coach of the Year as the Rams are leading the NFL in scoring at 35.7 points per game. Teams are going to continue to stack the box against Dallas to stop Elliott and dare Dak Prescott to beat them. He did vs. the Cardinals, completing 13 of 18 for 183 yards and two scores while rushing for a touchdown.

  • Under is 9-1 in Rams last 10 vs. a team with a winning record.
  • Under is 6-2 in Cowboys last 8 vs. NFC.
