The Detroit Lions appeared to get completely jobbed by the referees last week in a loss to Atlanta. How will they respond this week in a trip to division rival Minnesota? Survivor Pick: TBA.

Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings (TBA)

Just like last week, there is no opening line on a Vikings game because of the uncertain status of starting quarterback Sam Bradford. Many thought he would return in Week 3 from his knee injury, but Coach Mike Zimmer simply keeps calling Bradford day-to-day. Minnesota didn’t miss him much in a 34-17 win over Tampa Bay as journeyman Case Keenum had his best game since starring at the University of Houston in throwing for 369 yards and three TDs and vastly outplaying Tampa’s Heisman winner and No. 1 overall pick Jameis Winston. The Lions lost 30-26 to Atlanta on a call that technically was correct at the end of the game but was still ridiculous as Golden Tate originally was ruled to have scored the winning TD with under 10 seconds left. However, the TD was overturned on review, and by rule there was a 10-second runoff because the Lions didn’t have any timeouts. Ballgame. The league needs to change that rule this offseason as Detroit should have gotten one final chance on an untimed down. It’s not the Lions’ fault the league reviewed the play. The pick here largely depends on Bradford, and I’ll assume he’s playing for now.

  • Lions are 3-7-2 ATS in their last 12 meetings in Minnesota.
  • Vikings are 24-7 ATS in their past 21 home games.

The total call also depends on Bradford; no way that Keenum has a second straight game like he did. The Lions swept the Vikings last year in games that could have easily gone the other way. It was 22-16 in OT in Minneapolis. Matt Prater kicked a 58-yard field goal to tie as time expired in regulation and then Matthew Stafford hit Tate on a 28-yard TD in overtime to win. The Vikings largely dominated that game. In Detroit on Thanksgiving, the Lions won 16-13 as Darius Slay picked off Bradford with 30 seconds left to set up Prater’s 40-yard field goal as time expired. I expect a score closer to the second game for this one, Bradford or not.

  • Under is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in Minnesota.
  • Under is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings.
