Week 3 closes with the America's Team showcased in prime time yet again. Of course, I'm talking about the Arizona Cardinals.

Dallas Cowboys at Arizona Cardinals (+3, 47)

The Cardinals have won the past four meetings against the Cowboys, but the teams haven't met since 2014 when Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott were still in college. Survivor Pick: Dallas.

If the Chiefs winning Week 1 in New England has been the NFL's most surprising result of the early season, then the Cowboys going to Denver last Sunday and getting clobbered 42-17 has to be second. Not a huge surprise the Broncos won as they are a good team, but the domination was stunning as it was easily the worst game the Cowboys have played in the Ezekiel Elliott/Dak Prescott Era. Elliott was held to a career-low 8 yards on nine carries as the Broncos sold out to stop him. Prescott was forced to put it in the air 50 times, which isn't his game. He was picked off twice, and Elliott loafed on both of those when he might have made a tackle. Coach Jason Garrett publicly admitted he would be talking to Elliott this week about his lack of effort. Like Dallas, Arizona is 1-1 but has played both its games on the road. The Cards were lucky to win last week in Indianapolis, 16-13 in OT. In the past 10 games in which the Cowboys lost by at least 21, they are 9-1 in the next game.

  • Cowboys are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games after accumulating less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game.
  • Cardinals are 4-11 ATS in their past 15 at home.

I have zero doubt that the Cardinals (and other teams) will try and mimic what Denver did by daring Prescott to beat them by loading up the box to stop Elliott. The problem is that few teams -- and Arizona isn't one of them -- have the personnel to do that like the Broncos. The Cardinals' defense was torched Week 1 in Detroit. Dallas looked good defensively Week 1 against the Giants, but that no longer looks impressive as the Giants stink. Meanwhile, Trevor Siemian picked apart that Dallas unit in Week 2. Expect plenty of Carson Palmer throwing here with Arizona missing star running back David Johnson. WR J.J. Nelson could be emerging as a star.

  • Over is 7-3 in Cowboys past 10 in September.
  • Over is 8-1 in Cardinals past nine overall.
