Is it the end of the Todd Bowles Era in New York after this game? The Patriots still have to care as they look to clinch the AFC’s No. 1 seed. Survivor Pick: New England.

New York Jets at New England Patriots (-16.5, 46)

The Patriots will be the AFC’s No. 1 seed yet again with either a victory or a very unlikely Pittsburgh home loss to Cleveland – those games are simultaneous so the Patriots will have to presumably play their starters for as long as it takes. New England outscored the Bills 24-3 in the second half Sunday to win 37-16. Dion Lewis led the way offensively, carrying 24 times for 129 yards – both career highs – and added a pair of touchdowns, one on the ground and one on a screen. It was the second 100-yard game of Lewis’ career. It was the Pats’ 12th win of the season. They have now won at least 12 games in eight consecutive seasons (2010-17), surpassing the 2003-09 Indianapolis Colts for the longest such streak in NFL history. New York has managed just 26 combined points in a three-game losing streak. It was 14-7 at home on Sunday vs. the Chargers. Behind Bryce Petty, the Jets' offense didn't reach the red zone until late in the fourth quarter. In two games, the Petty-led offense has scored only three touchdowns in 26 possessions. Yet the Jets will not play 2016 second-round pick Christian Hackenberg. Is he that bad? While Petty is terrible, I’m always taking this many points.

  • Jets are 7-1-1 ATS in their last 9 meetings.
  • Jets are 9-3-1 ATS in their last 13 games overall.

Will this be the final game as Jets coach Todd Bowles? Entering the season, it was presumed all but a lock that he wouldn’t be back but New York has largely been competitive all year – just not too much since Josh McCown was lost for the season a few weeks ago. The Jets could have almost $100 million in salary-cap space plus a potential Top 10 draft pick this offseason. Muhammad Wilkerson's career with the Jets is likely over. The former Pro Bowl defensive end was a healthy scratch on Sunday for the second straight week, and the team's intention is to deactivate him in the season finale too. Tom Brady could wrap up a third career MVP Award with a big game. He leads the NFL with 4,387 passing yards and is third with 30 touchdown passes and second with a rating of 104.2. For whatever reason, the Jets have given the Patriots fits in recent years. New York played very well in a 24-17 home loss to the Patriots in Week 6. The Jets led 14-0 in the second quarter -- it marked the first time New England trailed by 14 or more in the first half since Week 4 of the 2014 season at Kansas City -- but Brady led the comeback. Brady, who set an NFL record for regular-season career wins in the game, finished 20 of 38 for 257 yards with two touchdowns to Rob Gronkowski and an interception. McCown finished 31 of 47 for 354 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions

  • Under is 5-2 in Jets last 7 vs. AFC East.
  • Under is 8-3 in Patriots last 11 games overall.
