Technically, the Raiders still have motivation here as they are alive in the AFC wild-card chase, although in reality they aren’t. Philly goes for the NFC’s top seed. Survivor Pick: Philadelphia.

Oakland Raiders at Philadelphia Eagles (-9, 47.5)

It’s the final Monday night game of the season – no Monday games in the postseason (yet). Oakland’s playoff chances are virtually gone at 6-8 and off a crushing 20-17 home loss to Dallas. With around 30 seconds left, Raiders QB Derek Carr scrambled on third-and-3 from the Dallas 8 and reached out for the end zone. But the ball came loose before crossing the goal line and went out of the end zone for a touchback. If Carr simply keeps possession, the Raiders surely make a short field goal and send the game into overtime. The Raiders now are tied for ninth in the AFC. These are the only ways Oakland can make the playoffs and all must happen: Win out to finish 8-8; Buffalo loses its last two games on the road against New England and Miami and finishes 8-8; Tennessee loses its last two games, both at home, against the L.A. Rams and Jacksonville, to finish 8-8; Miami wins its last two games at Kansas City and Buffalo to finish 8-8. The Raiders own wins over Tennessee and Miami and lost to Buffalo. If the Chargers were also to finish 8-8, the Raiders would also earn a wild-card spot. The Eagles have clinched a first-round bye still are battling Minnesota for the NFC’s top seed. That could be clinched this week.

  • Raiders are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings.
  • Raiders are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 Monday games.

Bad news for Oakland as Pro Bowl left tackle Donald Penn, who suffered an injury to his right foot early in the Raiders' to the Cowboys, will have season-ending surgery this week. It ends his streak of 170 regular-season consecutive starts, dating to his rookie season of 2007. He has played in all 174 regular-season games in his NFL career. Against Dallas, Marshall Newhouse moved from right tackle to left tackle and Vadal Alexander came in at right tackle. Alexander ranked 54th of 60 offensive tackles in PFF pass-blocking efficiency this week. The Eagles avoided a trap game in Week 15, winning 34-29 at the Giants in Nick Foles’ first start in place of Carson Wentz, who is also done for the year. While the offense didn’t miss too much of a beat without Foles, who had four TD passes, the defense was flat. A Giants team that entered the game ranked 29th in the NFL in total offense at 296.2 yards per game topped that number in the first half and ended the game with 504. New York’s 29 points were its most since Tom Coughlin was coach.

  • Over is 5-1 in Raiders last 6 Monday games.
  • Over is 20-7 in Eagles last 27 games in December.
