Avoid your eyes! Nothing to see here! It’s two hugely disappointing teams playing out the string in the desert. Survivor Pick: Arizona.

New York Giants at Arizona Cardinals (-3.5, 40)

Both these disappointing teams could have new head coaches and starting quarterbacks in 2018. For sure the Giants will have a new head coach as Ben McAdoo already has been fired. Remains to be seen if QB Eli Manning will return next season; that likely depends on what the new general manager and head coach think. Arizona lost QB Carson Palmer to a broken arm in Week 7 and his career might be over at age 38. There’s talk that Coach Bruce Arians might walk away as well as he has been dealing with some serious health problems. Both these rosters are full of talent, there’s just a glaring hole at the most important position. Arizona hasn’t been a good bet this year at 4-9-1 ATS, which is tied for the third worst mark in the NFL this season. The Giants are 1-6 straight up away from home but have covered four of the seven. Manning has never lost at University of Phoenix Stadium (2-0). Manning and the Chargers’ Philip Rivers are tied for seventh on the NFL’s career list with 338 touchdown passes, four behind Pro Football Hall of Famer Fran Tarkenton. If Manning throws for at least 189 yards on Sunday, he will surpass another Hall of Famer, John Elway (51,475), and move into sixth place on the NFL’s all-time list. I don’t know who wins here, honestly, but it probably only ends by a field goal difference.

  • Giants are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a losing home record.
  • Cardinals are 1-4 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.

Manning comes off his best game of the season in a 34-29 loss to the Eagles last week as he completed 37 of 57 passes for 434 yards, three touchdowns and one interception against the Eagles. The 29 points were the most scored by New York since Tom Coughlin was coach. It was 26th time in Giants regular-season history in which they threw at least 50 passes. Their record in those games is 2-24. New York is now 25-8 all-time in games in which Manning throws at least three TD passes. His 45 300-yard games place him 14th all-time and seventh among active quarterbacks. Arizona has been rather consistent this season as it has yet to win back-to-back games but has lost two in a row just once. It comes off a 20-15 defeat in Washington. Blaine Gabbert struggled again, going 16 of 41 for 189 yards and a pick. He will head back to the bench for Drew Stanton. Gabbert went 2-3 after replacing an injured Stanton as the starter in Week 11. Not that it much matters who starts. Aside from future Hall of Famer Larry Fitzgerald, who has 92 catches and 982 receiving yards this season, the Cardinals don't have anyone with more than 33 catches or 490 yards.

  • Under is 14-5 in Cardinals last 19 home games.
  • Under is 11-5 in Giants last 16 road games.
