Absolutely nothing to see here as both the Broncos and Redskins had playoff aspirations but are playing out disappointing seasons. Survivor Pick: Washington.

Denver Broncos at Washington Redskins (-3.5, 40.5)

Could Sunday be the final home game in a Redskins uniform for quarterback Kirk Cousins? Quite possible as he doesn’t seem happy there and it would cost Washington around $34 million to franchise Cousins for a third straight offseason. If Cousins does hit free agency, I fully expect Broncos boss John Elway to pursue him as Elway’s quarterback decisions since Peyton Manning retired have not worked out. Denver still has enough defensive and skill-position talent to be an AFC contender in 2018 were Cousins to be under center. The Broncos are on extra rest here as they rallied from a 10-0 deficit last Thursday in Indianapolis to win 25-13. It was first time this season the Broncos not only won a road game but covered on. Still, the 1-6 ATS away mark remains the worst in the NFL. The Redskins host the Broncos for the first time since earning a 27-17 victory against Denver at FedEx Field on Nov. 15, 2009. It’s the second game of the Redskins’ only set of back-to-back home games this year. The two-game homestand in Weeks 15-16 is the latest the Redskins have had their first set of back-to-back home games in a season since the NFL adopted the 16-game schedule in 1978.

  • Broncos are 1-8 ATS in their last 9 road games.
  • Redskins are 11-5 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.

So who starts at quarterback for Denver? Not sure it matters when it comes to this total. As of this writing, Coach Vance Joseph hasn’t decided between Brock Osweiler or 2016 first-round pick Paxton Lynch. Osweiler played maybe the game of his life last week against the Colts when starter Trevor Siemian went down with a separated shoulder that ended his season. Osweiler was 12-for-17 for 194 yards and two TDs, a rating of 147.7. Still, the team knows he’s not the future and might want to get another look at Lynch. He has played in just one game this season, a Nov. 26 start against the Raiders. Lynch went 9-of-14 passing for 41 yards with an interception and suffered an ankle injury in the third quarter and didn’t return. He was set to practice for the first time since the injury on Wednesday. Lynch also spent much of the first half of the season recovering from a left shoulder injury he suffered in the preseason. Washington will be missing safety Montae Nicholson as he was placed on IR this week. The rookie fourth-round pick had become the starter after Su'a Cravens was placed on a reserve/exempt list before the season. The Redskins have 15 players on injured reserve with 11 either considered starters or key reserves.

  • Under is 7-1 in Broncos last 8 vs. a team with a losing record.
  • Under is 4-1 in Redskins last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
