Biggest game of the year in the NFC West, which has largely been owned by the Seahawks this decade. It still is. Survivor Pick: Seattle.

Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks (-1, 48)

Huge, huge game in the NFC West with the Rams (9-4) leading Seattle (8-5) by a game. Los Angeles currently sits third overall in the conference but loses tiebreakers to Philadelphia (11-2) and Minnesota (10-3) so realistically the best the Rams can do is finish third and host a game on wild-card weekend. The Seahawks currently are seventh in the NFC because they lose a head-to-head tiebreaker to fellow 8-5 team Atlanta. Thus, a loss here could be devastating for the Seahawks with teams like the Lions, Packers (getting Aaron Rodgers back) and Cowboys (soon to get Ezekiel Elliott back) right behind them. Seattle goes for the season sweep of the Rams as the Hawks shut down that high-powered L.A. offense in a Week 5 16-10 victory at the Coliseum. Seattle only had 241 yards and turned it over twice, but it forced five Rams turnovers. Jared Goff was picked off twice and lost a fumble. Todd Gurley managed just 43 yards on 14 carries. History says you shouldn’t bet against Seattle QB Russell Wilson this time of the year, especially at home. So I won’t.

  • Rams are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 vs. NFC West.
  • Home team is 7-2 ATS in their last 9 meetings.

Both teams come off Week 14 losses. The Rams were beaten in a terrific game against Philadelphia, 43-35. L.A. might have changed the entire outlook in the NFC playoffs in defeat as two Rams defenders tore the ACL of Philly star quarterback Carson Wentz on his third-quarter dive into the end zone. The Rams suffered a few key injuries in that one as well, the biggest losing cornerback Kayvon Webster to a season-ending Achilles’ tendon issue. The other starting CB, Trumaine Johnson, was evaluated for a concussion during the game and passed, but he remained out because of a stinger. He should be good to go. In addition, receiver Robert Woods is on track to play for the first time since a Week 11 shoulder injury against the Vikings. Seattle is already missing a few key defenders for the season and now the team’s defensive MVP, linebacker Bobby Wagner, is dealing with a hamstring injury. He has been dealing with the injury for weeks but aggravated it in last Sunday’s 30-24 loss in Jacksonville. Fellow linebacker K.J. Wright also left with a concussion. The weather looks dry on Sunday so there should be plenty more points than the first meeting.

  • Over is 5-1 in Rams last 6 road games.
  • Over is 5-1 in Seahawks last 6 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
