Remember when this rivalry mattered back when it was Peyton Manning facing his former team and replacement in Andrew Luck? Survivor Pick: Denver.

Denver Broncos at Indianapolis Colts (+2, 41)

It’s the last Thursday night matchup of the season and, frankly, probably the worst TNF matchup of the year. The loser is the winner in terms of draft status. The Broncos (4-9) would pick fifth were the 2018 draft held today, while the Colts (3-10) would pick behind only the Browns and Giants. Both teams are better than this, in my opinion, but quarterback issues have wrecked both seasons. At least the Colts know they will have Andrew Luck in 2018. Not sure where Denver looks to solve its problem. The Broncos don’t often play well in Indianapolis, but that was generally against Peyton Manning or Luck. The last time the Broncos won there was Dec. 21, 2003. Jake Plummer threw a touchdown pass and ran for two more scores to lead a 31-17 victory over the Manning-led Colts. Denver is looking to avoid becoming the franchise’s first team since 1964 to lose every game away from home. The Broncos have one road game left after this: Christmas Eve at the Redskins. Last year, the Broncos hosted the Colts in Week 2 and won 34-20. Von Miller had a strip-sack of Luck with 1:51 to play, which was scooped up by Shane Ray and returned 15 yards for the clinching sore. Luck also had a pick-six.

  • Broncos are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 Thursday games.
  • Colts are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games in December.

Denver ended an eight-game losing streak, the franchise’s longest since its AFL days, with a 23-0 domination of the visiting Jets this past Sunday. The Broncos held the Jets to their second-fewest number of yards ever at just 100 and forced two turnovers. Trevor Siemian threw for 200 yards with a touchdown to Demaryius Thomas. That Denver defense, especially Miller, could tee off on Colts QB Jacoby Brissett as he has been sacked a league-high 48 times. The Colts lost a fourth straight Sunday, 13-7 in overtime in a blizzard in Buffalo. Brissett had just 69 yards passing. At 34 years, Frank Gore set a career high with 36 carries. He rushed for 130 yards and needs to average 79.3 yards over his final three games to reach the 1,000-yard barrier for the 10th time in his career. The Colts’ 46 rush attempts were their most in a game dating to Dec. 7, 1997, against the New York Jets. Indy ranks 30th in total offense and 30th in scoring. Denver is 25th in scoring. How can you not go under here?

  • Under is 6-1 in Broncos last 7 vs. a team with a losing record.
  • Under is 5-0 in Colts last 5 games overall.
