The Redskins have a 14-4 home record against the Cardinals franchise since its move to Arizona in 1988. I see no reason why that success won’t continue. Survivor Pick: Washington.

Arizona Cardinals at Washington Redskins (-4, 43)

Like to tell you this game means something, but it absolutely doesn’t other then potentially helping the draft status of the loser. About the only story line linking these two franchises I can think of at the moment would be Kirk Cousins. If the Redskins don’t slap the franchise tag on Cousins for a third straight offseason, and that would be worth about $35 million in 2018 salary, I do think the Cardinals are a potential landing spot for him. Carson Palmer seems likely to retire, and I’m not sure the team would want him back at his age even if he didn’t. With Cousins and a healthy David Johnson next year, the Cardinals could be pretty good. The Redskins and Cardinals have faced one another 122 times. It represents the Redskins’ third-most games played against any opponent and the most against an opponent in which the series does not include a postseason game. The Redskins are 74-46-2 in the series. Washington’s 74 wins against its second-most against any opponent. Prior to dropping their last two contests against the Cardinals, the Redskins won eight straight against Arizona across the 2000-11 seasons. The Redskins have won seven home games in a row against the Cardinals dating to 1999.

  • Cardinals are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games.
  • Redskins are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games following a straight up loss.

The Washington offense has struggled the past two weeks in blowout losses at the Cowboys and Chargers. Cousins was held to just 151 yards passing last Sunday in Los Angeles. Cousins was sacked only twice but was under pressure all day. His yardage, 55.6 percent completions and 68.6 rating were all season lows. The Skins have used more than 20 offensive line combinations this season due to injury. The team has 15 players on injured reserve (including 11 projected starters or key reserves). Meanwhile, veteran D.J. Swearinger said that a lack of energy has plagued the Redskins' defense, which has allowed 30 or more points in four of the past five games. Arizona beat Tennessee 12-7 last week, with all the points coming via Phil Dawson’s foot. Blaine Gabbert completed 17 of 26 for 178 yards for Arizona with no interceptions, but was sacked eight times, most by a Cardinals quarterback this season. It will be Gabbert again here. Future Hall of Famer Larry Fitzgerald has more than double the amount of receptions of any other team member, despite being the NFL’s oldest active wide receiver. The Cardinals will face Washington using their seventh starting combination along the offensive line due to injuries.

  • Over is 7-2 in Cardinals last 9 road games vs. a team with a losing home record.
  • Over is 20-6 in Redskins last 26 vs. NFC.
