There were tons of Philly fans in L.A. when the Eagles beat the Chargers earlier this season. I’m guessing more of the same on Sunday. Survivor Pick: LA Rams.

Philadelphia Eagles at Los Angeles Rams (-2, 49.5)

This is the clear game of the day with the Eagles atop the NFC East at 10-2 and the Rams atop the NFC West at 9-3. So the winner will have a huge head-to-head tiebreaker edge for potential home-field advantage in the playoffs. It’s also the first meeting between quarterbacks Jared Goff of the Rams and Carson Wentz of the Eagles. Of course, the Rams traded up to No. 1 overall in 2016 to select Goff, and the Eagles dealt up to No. 2 in 2016 to take Wentz. Both look like franchise quarterbacks now. Wentz is still a leading MVP candidate, and Goff might be the NFL’s Most Improved Player favorite. Just think, the Cleveland Browns could have had either of those guys. It’ll be the eighth time in the common draft era that QBs taken No. 1 and 2 overall will have played against one another. Goff and Wentz already have more wins than any other QB pair drafted 1-2 will likely finish with the most yards and TDs as well. Philly had a nine-game winning streak end last Sunday night in a loss at Seattle, while the Rams avoided a letdown game with a fairly easy victory in Arizona. That assured the Rams of their winning record since 2003. Philly has beaten just one team with a winning record this year, so I’m taking L.A.

  • Eagles are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.
  • Rams are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall.

Both these QBs thrive inside the opponents’ 20. Wentz has thrown 20 TDs and zero interceptions in the red zone with no sacks. Goff is right behind him with 16 TDs, zero interceptions and two sacks. On third down, Goff has a 64 percent completion rate with seven touchdowns and two interceptions; Wentz has a 66.4 completion rate with 12 TDs and two picks. Wentz’s 29 touchdown passes are the most by an Eagles quarterback through the team’s first 12 games. This could be the next Tom Brady-Peyton Manning rivalry. The Rams and Eagles have both scored an NFL-leading 361 points this year. Philadelphia stayed on the West Coast this week after the Seattle loss. The Eagles, who failed to score 20 points for the first time in 16 games in the loss, practiced on a full-size football field set up at Angel Stadium in Anaheim. Philadelphia will clinch the NFC East title with one more victory. In an interesting twist, Rams coach Sean McVay said he was considering practicing with silent count this week, after seeing how many Eagles fans were at StubHub for the Chargers game earlier this season.

  • Over is 14-4 in Eagles last 18 road games.
  • Over is 8-3 in Rams last 11 games on grass.
