The high-flying 10-1 Philadelphia Eagles face one of their tougher tests this season with a trip to the West Coast to tangle with the 7-4 Seattle Seahawks this Sunday night. Kickoff from CenturyLink Field is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. (ET) with NBC carrying the national broadcast. The Eagles only other loss this season came on the road.

Free NFL Pick: Seahawks +5Best Line Offered: at Heritage Game Overview

The Eagles are closing in on their first NFC East title since 2013, but this team’s aspirations are much higher than that. They have won their last nine games straight-up and with last Sunday’s 31-3 beatdown of Chicago as heavy 14-point home favorites they have covered against the spread in their last eight games. The total has stayed UNDER in three of their last four outings despite scoring 30 points or more in each contest.

Balance across the board is one of the biggest reasons for the major turnaround in Philly this season from its seven total wins in 2016. Second-year quarterback Carson Wentz has gotten much of the credit and rightfully so with his league-high 28 passing touchdowns against just five interceptions, but the play on defense and special teams has also contributed heavily to the team’s newfound success. The Eagles are first in the league in scoring and third in points allowed. Add in a +9 turnover ratio and you can see why they have the best record in the NFL.

Seattle is in a neck-and-neck battle with the surprising Los Angeles Rams for the top spot in the NFC West and it kept pace with the 8-3 Rams by beating San Francisco 24-13 last Sunday as a seven-point road favorite. The total stayed UNDER 45 points in that game and it has stayed UNDER in five of its last seven games. The Seahawks are 4-6-1 ATS and they have failed to cover in four of five home games this year.

To get past the high-flying Eagles on Sunday night, these birds are going to need a big game from Russell Wilson. While he has struggled at times throughout the season, his complete body of work has been pretty good with 3,039 passing yards and 23 passing touchdowns against eight interceptions. The Seahawks’ defensive secondary is missing its top two players, but the unit as a whole is still ranked ninth in the NFL in points allowed (19.3).

Game Betting Trends

--The Eagles have covered ATS in their last six conference games and they have gone 15-5 ATS in their last 20 games in Week 13. The total has gone OVER in five of their last seven games against a team with a SU winning record.

--The Seahawks are 19-6-1 ATS in their last 26 games played in December and they have covered in 13 of their last 16 games in Week 13. The total has stayed UNDER in seven of their last eight games against a conference opponent.

--Seattle has a 5-1 edge ATS in the last five meetings and the total has stayed UNDER in three of the last four meetings in this NFC tilt.

NFL Pick

When any team cashes a winning ticket eight weeks in a row, there is no logical reason to go against it them following week, unless the betting spread is out of whack. The spread in this game opened at four points and it moved to six points by mid-week. It has recently come back to five points across most of the major online books in one of the more volatile betting matchups on the board. The game is still in Seattle and this is still a team that desperately needs to win to keep pace for a division title.

That being said, I have Philly winning this game SU in what will be one of its closer calls this season. You could bet Seattle plus five points now as a solid NFL pick, but you may want to wait until right before kickoff on Sunday night to see where this spread goes at SBR Odds.
