One of the biggest games of the week as the NFC North-leading Vikings look to keep rolling against a potential playoff foe in the Falcons. Survivor Pick: Atlanta.

Minnesota Vikings at Atlanta Falcons (-3, 47)

First meeting between these teams since a 20-10 Vikings victory in the old Georgia Dome in the 2015 season. Adrian Peterson, of course now with the Cardinals, rushed for 158 yards and two scores. Teddy Bridgewater was the team’s QB then. Matt Ryan had an off day. This could be a playoff preview. Minnesota is going to win the NFC North at 9-2 and is currently the NFC’s No. 2 seed behind Philadelphia. “We have a good little stretch coming up,” running back Jerick McKinnon said. “We have to go to Atlanta and to Carolina, and both those teams are really good, so we’ve got our work cut out for us.” The Vikings have won seven consecutive games and are 4-1 on the road in 2017. Minnesota already has exceeded its win total from 2016 when the Vikings started 5-0 before finishing 8-8. Atlanta holds the final wild-card spot in the NFC with a 7-4 record thanks to a head-to-head tiebreaker over fellow 7-4 team Seattle. There should be a terrific individual matchup here between Pro Bowlers: Falcons receiver Julio Jones and Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes. I lean Falcons simply as they are at home and the Vikings have to cool off at some point.

  • Falcons are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games after scoring more than 30 points in their previous game.
  • Falcons are 13-6 ATS in their last 19 games following a straight up win.

Atlanta has climbed back into the playoff picture with three straight wins, and the Falcons offense has averaged 31.7 points per game during that span. In last Sunday’s win over Tampa Bay, Jones was a monster with 12 catches for 253 yards and two touchdowns. Jones has three career games with at least 250 receiving yards and is the only player in NFL history to have multiple 250+ yard receiving games. Sunday was Jones’ 90th career NFL game. He has 563 catches for 8,649 yards, the most by a player in his first 90 games in NFL history. He passed Anquan Boldin (558) for the most receptions and Lance Alworth (8,502) for the most receiving yards. Vikings quarterback Case Keenum completed 21 of 30 passes for 282 yards and two touchdowns in a Thanksgiving win over the Lions. He continues to shock people. Keenum is 7-2 as a starter this season and has thrown for 2,476 yards with 14 touchdowns and five interceptions. Undrafted Adam Thielen had eight catches for 89 yards on Thanksgiving, and has 70 receptions for 1,005 yards and three scores on the season. Thielen ranks third in the NFL in receiving yards.

  • Over is 13-3 in Falcons last 16 home games.
  • Over is 5-2 in Vikings last 7 road games.
