It’s a short week for Houston after losing in Baltimore on Monday night as the Texans look to complete a season sweep of the Titans. Survivor Pick: Tennessee.

Houston Texans at Tennessee Titans (-6.5, 42.5)

Both Texans and Titans fans likely remember Week 4 well as Houston crushed Tennessee 57-14, a franchise record of points for the Texans. Deshaun Watson, now of course out for the season, became a superstar that day. The former Clemson star became the first rookie to throw four touchdowns and run for another one since Fran Tarkenton in 1961. The Titans’ Marcus Mariota threw for 96 yards and ran for 39 before he was injured. He didn’t play at halftime. Tennessee had five turnovers. It’s such a shame what happened to Watson as it ruined any chance Houston had of making the playoffs. It is 4-7 following Monday’s 23-16 loss in Baltimore. Tom Savage completed 22 of 37 passes for 252 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions. Savage also lost a fumble on a strip-sack by Terrell Suggs late in the fourth quarter that led to a Ravens field goal. Tennessee rallied for a 20-16 victory in Indianapolis in Week 12. It was the Titans’ first win at Lucas Oil Stadium in 10 tries and swept the Colts for the first time since 2002. As I write this, most books have this at 6.5 but a few at 7. Definitely buy it down if you need to as I expect a Tennessee win by a touchdown.

  • Favorite is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 meetings.
  • Texans are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.

Will Savage make it through the entire game? Coach Bill O’Brien says Savage will start but is tired of his quarterback turning the ball over. “It has to get corrected, because if not, we’re going to have to go in a different direction,” O’Brien said following Monday’s three-turnover effort. “We’re going to sit down and study it and try to make the correction.” O’Brien called Savage’s two interceptions “poor decisions” and said wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, whom Savage targeted 10 times, should have had 20 targets. Savage has turned the ball over 12 times in five starts and leads the NFL in lost fumbles. All five of Savage's interceptions have come in the Texans' past three games. T.J. Yates is the current No. 2. Yates has not attempted a pass in a regular-season game since Dec. 20, 2015. How much can bettors trust Mariota right now? He followed his worst NFL game at Pittsburgh with a two-interception day at Indianapolis. His 12 interceptions are already a career-high, compared to just nine passing touchdowns. Tennessee is struggling to run the ball.

  • Under is 11-4 in Texans last 15 games in December.
  • Under is 9-4 in Titans last 13 games in December.
