The Titans could almost never beat the Colts when Indy had Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck. Things are different in 2017, though, as Tennessee goes for the season sweep. Survivor Pick: Tennessee.

Tennessee Titans at Indianapolis Colts (+3.5, 44)

The Titans sure are glad that Andrew Luck is out for this season – not that they would admit to that. I say that because Tennessee ended an 11-game losing streak to Indianapolis with a 36-22 victory on Monday night in Week 6. Marcus Mariota threw a 53-yard touchdown pass to Taywan Taylor with 5:29 left. Then Colts backers got totally jobbed on a bad beat. The Titans were 7.5-point favorites for the game and up 29-22 with less than a minute left. Tennessee was just running out the clock but called an inside handoff to Derrick Henry. The former Heisman winner saw nothing in the middle and bounced outside, broke two tackles and scored on from 72 yards out – it was the longest run of his NFL career by 47 yards. it left Colts backers crushed and those holding that Titans -7.5 ticket jumping for joy. Mariota threw for 306 yards and a score with a pick. Jacoby Brissett was 21-for-37 for 212 yards and a TD. The Colts' 11-game win streak had been tied with Denver for the longest active streak in the NFL. Indy comes out of its bye week, while Tennessee comes off a blowout loss in Pittsburgh last Thursday.

  • Favorite is 8-2 ATS in their last 10 meetings.
  • Colts are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 vs. AFC South.

I’ll be interested to see how the Titans respond to their 40-17 wipeout at the Steelers last Thursday night. I say that because Tennessee was also trashed in Houston 57-14 in Week 4 and then played a road game with a chance to respond – and didn’t. The Titans lost 16-10 at Miami and managed just 188 total yards. To be fair, it was Matt Cassel at QB then and not Mariota. The former Heisman winner had good yardage in the loss to Pittsburgh but was picked off four times and a few were ugly. Mariota also was sacked five times. He was the first Titan with four interceptions in a game since Steve McNair had four in Week 6 of 2004 against the Texans. It was Mariota's first NFL game with more than two interceptions and the seventh multi-interception game in his career. It so happens the Colts also last played the Steelers, blowing a 17-3 third-quarter lead in a 20-17 loss. That was one of the better game that Indy’s 32nd-ranked defense has played this year, although I believe it was more the Steelers being a little sluggish out of their bye and overlooking a bad opponent.

  • Over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
  • Over is 15-5-1 in Titans last 21 vs. a team with a losing record.
