It’s already a lost season for the 49ers, but fans of the team could get a glimpse of the future on Sunday when Seattle visits. Survivor Pick: Seattle.

Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers (+7, 43)

These NFC West rivals played one of the ugliest games of the year in Week 2, as 12-9 Seattle victory. Russell Wilson avoided two potential sacks and hit Paul Richardson in the front corner of the end zone for a 9-yard touchdown with 7:06 left for the winning score – Blair Walsh’s PAT try missed. He had hit two field goals in the first quarter for all of Seattle’s points. Robbie Gould had two second-quarter field goals and one in the third fourth to account for the 49ers’ points. So will this be the San Francisco debut of Jimmy Garoppolo? Most believe so with the team coming out of its bye week and Jimmy G having three weeks to learn the offense. Yet, the Niners keep saying they are in no rush. That’s not to say he hasn’t made a big impression on GM John Lynch. “We really, genuinely believe that this guy’s got the makings of a guy who could be our guy for years to come,” Lynch said. “That’s all got to come to fruition on the field.” Lynch also gave the impression that C.J. Beathard might remain the starting quarterback for the interim. Beathard is coming off his best game in Week 10, completing 19 of 25 for 288 yards and two scores in an upset of the Giants.

  • Seahawks are 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 games following a straight up loss.
  • 49ers are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 home games.

I do worry about a major letdown here for Seattle off Monday night’s crushing 34-31 home loss to Atlanta. Pete Carroll tried a baffling fake field goal right before halftime that had basically no chance of succeeding. Those three points obviously became quite important. Carroll also stupidly challenged a call in the fourth quarter that cost him a timeout – one that could have come in handy at the end when Walsh missed a 52-yarder about 2 yards short in the final seconds. The Seattle defense didn’t look the same without injured defensive backs Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor, both out for the season. The loss snapped the Seahawks' 11-game win streak on Monday Night Football. But, they absolutely can’t afford a loss here for their playoff hopes. Seattle should either bottle up the rookie in Beathard or the likely rusty Garoppolo, who has just a couple of career starts under his belt and not since early last season when Tom Brady was suspended.

  • Under is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings.
  • Under is 19-9 in 49ers last 28 home games.
