Neither the Texans nor Ravens are going to win their respective division, but Monday’s game could have potential wild-card implications. Survivor Pick: Baltimore.

Houston Texans at Baltimore Ravens (-7, 38)

It’s the 11th all-time meeting between the teams, including playoffs, with Baltimore leading 7-2. Houston’s season fell off the rails when Deshaun Watson tore his ACL, although the Texans got their first win without Watson against Arizona last Sunday, 31-21. Backup QB Tom Savage might have saved his job in completing 22 of 32 for 230 yards, two TDs and a pick – good for a season-high rating of 97.1. Houston got some bad news in that game, though, as rookie running back D’Onta Foreman was lost to a season-ending Achilles’ injury. Foreman had the best game of his young NFL career, rushing for 65 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries before the injury in the fourth quarter. Savage mentioned how having a consistent running game was important for a pocket quarterback such as himself because it can help "get the defense off" and help with play-action passes. Houston still has No. 1 back Lamar Miller, but he can’t play every single down. The Ravens currently hold the final wild-card spot in the AFC despite a 5-5 record. They took advantage of not having to face an injured Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay last week and shut out the Packers 23-0.

  • Texans are 1-9 ATS in their last 10 Monday games.
  • Ravens are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 Monday games.

With that blanking of the punchless Packers, the Ravens pitched their third shutout of the season. They are the fifth team and first since 2003 (New England) in the past 30 years to record at least three shutouts in a single season. Three of the previous four teams to accomplish the feat during that span won the Super Bowl in that season – including that 2000 Baltimore team that had one of the great defenses in NFL history. This year’s unit isn’t close to that, it has just played some bad teams. Meanwhile, Texans defensive end and former No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney is playing the best football of his pro career. He had two sacks vs. the Cardinals and has eight sacks in the team’s past eight games. Since Week 3, Clowney’s eight sacks are tied for the second-most in the NFL. Houston played last week without No. 2 WR Will Fuller, who has seven TD catches, and he’s very questionable Monday with cracked ribs. At 4-6, the Texans can’t afford another loss, so if at all possible I’d imagine that Fuller plays. But this is Savage vs. Joe Flacco, so you have to go under the total.

  • Under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
  • Under is 5-1 in Ravens last 6 games in November.
