There are a lot of perceived mismatches on the NFL schedule in Week 12, but perhaps none bigger than three-win Chicago going to 9-1 Philly. Survivor Pick: Philadelphia.

Chicago Bears at Philadelphia Eagles (-14, 44)

About the only intrigue for this game is the quarterbacks. Both Philadelphia’s Carson Wentz and Chicago’s Mitchell Trubisky were the No. 2 overall picks of their respective drafts. Of course, the Eagles traded up several spots to No. 2 in 2016 to land Wentz, and that looks brilliant as he continues to be an NFL MVP favorite this year. Chicago traded up just spot in the 2017 draft with San Francisco – even though the Niners weren’t going to take a QB – to land Trubisky. He has promise but still has plenty of work to do. The Bears have lost three straight but played reasonably well last Sunday in a 27-24 home loss to Detroit. Connor Barth missed a tying 46-yard field goal in the final seconds after Trubisky led a solid drive to get into position. Barth was just 11 of 16 in 2017 and had missed kicks in three of the Bears' past four games. He was dumped on Monday as the team signed former Chiefs kicker Cairo Santos. He was waived injured by the Chiefs on Sept. 30 because of a groin injury. Prior to getting hurt, Santos was 3-of-3 on field goal attempts and 12-of-12 on extra points this year. No question the Eagles win here, but a potential trap game so take those points. Chicago plays hard.

  • Bears are 7-2-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
  • Eagles are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.

Philadelphia basically wrapped up the NFC East title Sunday night with an impressive 37-9 win in Dallas, the Eagles’ eighth straight victory. Wentz threw for two touchdowns and three 2-point conversions after Philadelphia lost kicker Jake Elliott to a head injury. The team used linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill on kickoffs. Elliott is perhaps the first kicker ever in the NFL’s concussion protocol (I’m kidding but I can’t remember hearing that), so if he’s not cleared by later this week, the team could activate Caleb Sturgis from injured reserve now that he’s eligible. Chicago has lost its best pass-rusher in outside linebacker Leonard Floyd, who has two injured ligaments in his knee – but the good news is they aren’t torn. He still might need surgery, however. Floyd already has 11.5 sacks and 12 tackles for loss in only 22 career games. He played 90 percent of the Bears snaps through the first nine games, and he had not missed a practice. The Bears hosted the Eagles early last year and Philadelphia won 29-14 in Wentz’s first career start. I can see a similar score here (27-14 actually), just staying under that total.

  • Under is 8-3 in Bears last 11 games following a ATS loss.
  • Under is 4-1 in Eagles last 5 games in November.
