Is it time to start taking the Saints seriously. They bring an NFL-best seven-game winning streak into Sunday’s matchup with struggling Washington. Survivor Pick: New Orleans.

Washington Redskins at New Orleans Saints (+7.5, 51)

Since starting the season 0-2, the Saints have gone a seven-game winning streak in which they also have covered in each one. New Orleans is the only team this year to cover in seven straight games and is tied with the Eagles for the best ATS record overall at 7-2. The Saints and 1993 Cowboys are the only teams to win seven straight after starting 0-2. That Dallas team, which didn’t have Emmitt Smith the first two weeks due to a holdout, won the Super Bowl. The Redskins are just 3-6 ATS this season. However, Drew Brees is 1-4 SU in his career against Washington with the Saints. And for some reason, the Redskins love the Big Easy as they are 7-1 all-time at the Superdome and have won four straight at New Orleans dating to 1994. The last meeting there was the NFL debut of guy named Robert Griffin III and he was spectacular. Washington has lost running back Rob Kelley for the rest of the season after placing him on IR this week. Kelley was banged up seemingly every week. The Skins will now rely on Chris Thompson, who has been a beast as a receiver, and rookie Samaje Perine. That hook on the 7 is why I’m taking the Skins here – they’ll lose by a TD.

  • Redskins are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games in November.
  • Redskins are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 meetings.

It’s amazing how much the Saints have transitioned from a pass-first team behind Brees to a running team behind the two-headed monster of Mark Ingram and rookie Alvin Kamara. Last week in a shocking blowout win at Buffalo, which is pretty good on defense, New Orleans rushed for 298 yards and a franchise-record six touchdowns against the Bills. The Saints became only the fifth team in NFL history – including playoffs – to rush for at least 295 yards and six touchdowns in a single game. It hadn’t happened since the Cleveland Browns in 1957. Ingram rushed for 131 yards and three touchdowns in today’s victory, joining George Rogers and Ricky Williams as the only Saints players to rush for at least 130 yards and three touchdowns in a game. Washington is middle of the pack against the run, allowing 109.6 yards per game. The Skins also have lost starting linebacker Will Compton to season-ending reserve this week. This looks to end up something like 35-28 Saints.

  • Over is 13-3 in Redskins last 16 road games.
  • Over is 12-5-1 in Saints last 18 home games.
