Not that long ago, the Jaguars were as inept a franchise as the Browns. Amazing what hiring the right person(s) can do to change things. Survivor Pick: Jacksonville.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Cleveland Browns (+7.5, 37.5)

The Jaguars (6-3) are tied with Tennessee atop the AFC South and already have their most wins since finishing 8-8 in 2010. While the Jags still may not have their quarterback problem solved with inconsistent Blake Bortles, Jacksonville has a ferocious young defense and a franchise running back in Leonard Fournette. See Cleveland? You can when without a superstar quarterback! The Jags tried their best to blow this past Sunday’s game against the Chargers but lucked out in a 20-17 OT win. Bortles completed 28 of 51 passes for 273 yards, with a touchdown and the two picks. The second pick looked like it handed the game late to the Chargers. Jacksonville reserve running back Corey Grant had a 56-yard TD run on a fake punt. He also had a 58-yard fourth-down run on a fake punt in Week 3. Those two runs of at least 50 yards on fourth down this season are as many as all other active players have combined in their careers. The only two guys with one are Buffalo’s LeSean McCoy and Kansas City’s Albert Wilson. The Jags will win this game, but it sets up as a possible trap. Cleveland can manage to lose by only seven. The last time the Jaguars were favored by seven or more points came in 2009 when it happened a total of three times.

  • Jaguars are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up win.
  • Home team is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings.

This will not be a pretty game to watch from a quarterback perspective. You know all about Bortles, and Browns rookie DeShone Kizer looks overwhelmed more times than not. Cleveland actually took its first double-digit lead of the season on Sunday in Detroit but naturally faded and lost 38-24. With San Francisco’s loss, Cleveland is now assured of picking No. 1 in the 2018 NFL draft if it continues to lose. The Browns will get receiver and 2016 first-round pick Corey Coleman this week. He had been on IR with a hand injury. Browns coach Hue Jackson said Monday that Coleman will be "all systems go." However, Cleveland lost starting linebacker Jamie Collins to a season-ending torn MCL vs. the Lions. Jacksonville is expected to be without WR Allen Hurns with a right ankle problem. Hurns is second on the team in catches (36) and receiving yards (446) and tied for the lead among receivers with two receiving TDs. Marqise Lee, the Jaguars' leading receiver this season (38 catches for 493 yards), has 153 career receptions. The other three on the roster have 43 combined: Jaelen Strong (28), Keelan Cole (14), and Jaydon Mickens (one).

  • Under is 4-1 in Jaguars last 5 road games.
  • Under is 13-3 in Browns last 16 home games.
