With the Rams looking legit in the NFC West, the loser of Thursday’s game between the Seahawks and Cardinals might find it tough to catch L.A. for first place. Survivor Pick: Seattle.

Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals (+6, 41.5)

These two played a couple of very interesting games last year. It was a 6-6 tie in the desert, maybe the most interesting game in league history without a touchdown – it was the lowest-scoring tie in the overtime era. Both kickers, now with other teams, missed chip-shot field goals late in the overtime to win it. Arizona should have won in a rout as it dominated statistically. In Week 16 in Seattle, the Cardinals pulled out a 34-31 surprise. Chandler Catanzaro hit a 43-yard field goal on the final play. It was one of the rare clutch kicks he hit in 2016; Catanzaro is now with the Jets. Seattle's defense gave up three touchdown drives of 60 or more yards and allowed 20 points in the final period. The Cards had Carson Palmer for both those games, but he’s out with a broken arm. Drew Stanton played game manager on Sunday in a 20-10 victory at winless San Francisco. The Cardinals have alternated losses and wins here so they are due a loss, I suppose. Yes, I’m taking the points but I think Seattle will win. The Seahawks had their four-game winning streak snapped on Sunday in a 17-14 home defeat vs. Washington.

  • Road team is 5-0 ATS in the past five meetings.
  • Seahawks are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 road games.

The Seahawks dominated the Redskins in yardage but Seattle had two turnovers – both Russell Wilson interceptions, a whopping 16 penalties and kicker Blair Walsh missed all three of his field-goal tries. Coach Pete Carroll says he’s not bringing in any kickers on tryouts this week. Walsh had been 12 of 13 on field goals entering. Seattle’s a bit banged up. Running back Eddie Lacy left Sunday's game with a hamstring injury and it’s not clear as of this writing if he will play here. Free safety Earl Thomas (hamstring) and defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson (oblique), who didn't play Sunday, are also uncertain. Running back C.J. Prosise (ankle) is expected to play. Arizona beat San Francisco thanks to a monster game from 32-year-old Adrian Peterson, who rushed a career-high 37 times for 159 yards – the most carries by someone his age in league history. Peterson forced eight missed tackles and ran for 110 of his 159 yards after contact. The future Hall of Famer is a stud, but there’s no way the team can ride him that hard again in this quick turnaround. Also in that game, Cards linebacker Karlos Dansby became the fifth NFL player with 40 career sacks and 20 interceptions.

  • Under is 7-3 in Seahawks last 10 vs. NFC West.
  • Under is 12-3 in Cardinals last 15 home games.
