Arguably the most important game in Week 1 is from Lambeau when defending NFC North champion Green Bay hosts reigning NFC West king Seattle. This could have big tiebreaker ramifications down the line.

Seattle Seahawks at Green Bay Packers (-3, 50)

Seattle has visited Lambeau Field 13 times overall and is 3-10, losing the past seven in the series. I see no reason why that would change barring an Aaron Rodgers injury. Survivor Pick: Packers

This will be the return to Green Bay of Seahawks running back Eddie Lacy. He was on the way to a potentially big season in 2016 with the Packers, averaging 5.1 yards per carry in the first five games. Alas, he injured an ankle in Week 6 and didn’t play again. When Lacy’s in shape, he’s a good back. The Packers didn’t make an effort to re-sign him and will go with converted receiver Ty Montgomery as the featured back. Including the playoffs, the Packers have won three of the last four home games against Seattle by 20-plus points (22, 38, 28). Last year it was 38-10 as Green Bay picked off Russell Wilson five times.  Rodgers threw for 246 yards and three scores before leaving early in the fourth quarter with his team up by 25.

  • Seahawks are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games.
  • Packers are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games in September.
  • Home team is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings.

Including the postseason, this will be the sixth time the two teams have played since 2012. A couple of breaks for Seattle here in that it’s a 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff instead of 1 p.m. and it’s also on Sept. 10 instead of, say, Dec. 10 when the tundra surely will be frozen. I think it’s fair to say Wilson won’t be picked off a career-high five times again; Green Bay’s secondary was a major weakness last year and I’m not sure the problem has been solved. The Pack used their first two draft picks, both second-rounders, on the secondary. Seattle’s defense is still pretty good but not close to what it used to be.

  • Over is 5-2 in Seahawks last 7 games overall.
  • Over is 7-0 in Packers last 7 games overall.
  • Over is 6-2-1 in the last 9 meetings.
