NFL Upholds Tom Brady's 4-Game Suspension, Should Bettors Care?

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has lost his appeal and the repercussions are being felt from Seattle to Foxboro. Will Brady and the Players Association take this to court or is this the end of the line? The NFL odds are already trembling.

Five weeks ago Tom Brady appealed the four-game suspension handed down for his role in Deflategate but the NFL just ruled that Brady will serve that sentence in part because of his actions taken to avoid cooperation with the investigation. The official statement is as follows:

"On or shortly before March 6, the day that Tom Brady met with independent investigator Ted Wells and his colleagues, Brady directed that the cell phone he had used for the prior four months be destroyed," the NFL announced. "He did so even though he was aware that the investigators had requested access to text messages and other electronic information that had been stored on that phone. ‎During the four months that the cell phone was in use, Brady had exchanged nearly 10,000 text messages, none of which can now be retrieved from that device. The destruction of the cell phone was not disclosed until June 18, almost four months after the investigators had first sought electronic information from Brady.

"Based on the Wells Report and the evidence presented at the hearing, Commissioner Goodell concluded in his decision that Brady was aware of, and took steps to support‎, the actions of other team employees to deflate game footballs below the levels called for by the NFL's Official Playing Rules. The commissioner found that Brady’s deliberate destruction of potentially relevant evidence went beyond a mere failure to cooperate in the investigation and supported a finding that he had sought to hide evidence of his own participation in the underlying scheme to alter the footballs."

So there you have it ladies and gentlemen. Brady is not only a deflator but a phone smasher. Even the most ardent supporters of the future Hall-of-Fame QB will have a tough time defending this alleged cover-up. In addition to potentially incriminating evidence there could very well have been some high-rez pictures of the lovely Gisele in some not so sensible attire. That is pure speculation of course but it could in fact be a very real reason why Tom Terrific decided not to deliver the goods and his attorneys could argue thusly...

Patriots NFL Odds
As of this writing the New England Patriots range anywhere from +600 at GTBets to +1000 at SportsInteraction in NFL odds to repeat as Super Bowl champs. Their season win total sits at 10 (O-115) at bet365 while Bookmaker has taken this NFL prop right off their board – as of now.

But let’s not be too hasty to judge how this will actually shake out. If Brady and the NFLPA take this to court Brady would, in theory, be allowed to play until this is adjudicated in the court of law. Therefore, Brady may actually play all 16! Stay tuned SBR readers.
