Injuries gave the UNDER an early boost in Week 2 preseason betting. We've got three more games to put in our NFL picks this Sunday, if they can find enough healthy players.
Totals haven't always been kind to us here at the ranch, but we started Week 2 by rolling out four straight UNDER picks, and we cashed in at 3-1. Only the Amazing Bryce Petty stopped us from getting the sweep. We're not bragging, though – these weren't difficult picks, given all the injuries coming down the pike these days. Let's see if there's anyone left to play this Sunday.
Green Bay at Pittsburgh (1:00 p.m. ET, NFLN)
The Packers are led by coach Mike McCarthy, who has driven the OVER to a 24-13 record in preseason play. Outstanding, but largely canceled out by Pittsburgh's Mike Tomlin (UNDER 21-13). Both men were tight ends when they played in college; however, Tomlin ended up focusing on defensive backs as a coach, while McCarthy specialized in quarterbacks.
We've said plenty already about Steelers backup QB Bruce Gradkowski and whether or not he'll play Sunday. Landry Jones hasn't been getting the job done for Pittsburgh, so we're thinking there's a better chance of points going on the board if Gradkowski gets in a couple of series against the Packers. It could happen. By the way, there are some 40.5s and some 41s on our NFL odds board; the difference in fair price between the two is 10.6 cents, according to Wizard of Odds.

St. Louis at Tennessee (8:00 p.m. ET, FOX)
Now we start getting into the injuries. St. Louis head coach Jeff Fisher has confirmed (more or less, this being Fisher) that LG Roger Saffold will be kept on the sidelines this Sunday after missing practice this week with a injured right shoulder. Hotshot rookie RB Todd Gurley (ACL) might not play until Week 3 of the regular season, and WR Brian Quick (shoulder) is very iffy to face Tennessee.
It's a bit of a shame. Fisher has the OVER at 41-32-1 lifetime, but the more players he loses on offense, the fewer points they can expect to score. The Titans aren't doing too badly on the injury front, and Ken Whisenhunt has the OVER slightly ahead at 16-14 – alas, not enough to move the needle with our football picks this time.

Dallas at San Francisco (7:30 p.m. ET)
Here's a much better situation for our purposes. The 49ers are a shell of their former selves, taken down by a lethal combination of injuries, suspensions and retirements. The remaining players fell 23-10 to the Houston Texans (UNDER 36.5) last week. Nothing personal, but we're going to keep kicking them while they're down, at least until the market catches up.
Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett has the UNDER at 10-5-2, so we feel good about both sides working with each other in this matchup. Dallas will conserve its energies for the regular season, while San Francisco will spin aimlessly like a top until it falls over.
