The NFL is a sport of momentum and with teams ascending and descending quickly due to parity, a good start in the month of September can make all of the difference. The NFL announced their schedule on Tuesday, so let’s sift through the teams and see who has some easy NFL betting matchups in the opening month.

Arizona Cardinals
Schedule: vs NO, @ CHI, vs SF, vs STL
The Cardinals have a relatively soft start to the schedule as they get three home games in four weeks. On top of that, their only road game will be to Chicago, to face a Bears team that’s rebuilding. And going to Chicago in September is much easier than when it gets cold.

Remember that Arizona finished the year 7-1 at home last season and that’s including the Carson Palmer injury. With him healthy, they could again be one of the top teams in the NFC. In September, they’ll get the Saints, 49ers and Rams at home, all of whom are in some sort of flux. The Cards could easily start the season 4-0.

Indianapolis Colts
Schedule: @ BUF, vs NYJ, @ TEN, vs JAC
Sure, the Colts start with what might be a tough test in Buffalo but the Bills are a rebuilt team. It might not come together right away and the Colts will be hungry. Also, while the Bills are trying to make an ascent up the ranks to prove they’re a playoff team, the Colts are already there and are among the best in the NFL. They will probably be favored in that game.

But leaving that one aside for a second, the Colts then get the Jets at home along with a road trip to Tennessee and then a home matchup against the Jaguars. Those three teams were a combined 9-39. The Colts could easily go 4-0 to start the year.

Carolina Panthers
Schedule:
@ JAC, vs HOU, vs NO, @ TB
Those NFL betting cappers writing the Panthers obituaries might be penning them a bit too soon. Yes, this is still a bad team but they should have a decent start to the 2015 campaign. It begins with a road trip to Jacksonville and a home matchup with Houston. The Panthers will be favored in both games. Then they get a visit from a rebuilt Saints team that normally doesn’t travel well and then they visit Tampa Bay, who owns the top pick in this year’s NFL Draft. Don’t be shocked if this Panthers team is 4-0 at the end of Week 4 thanks to their steady defense, Cam Newton and a soft schedule, so keep an eye on this team when making your NFL picks at the start of the season.

Miami Dolphins
Schedule: @ WAS, @ JAC, vs BUF, vs NYJ
The Dolphins will start the season with back-to-back road games but if this team is truly improved and is truly on the rise, then that’s manageable for them. If that proves true, they could be 4-0 at the end of the month.

The Dolphins start at Washington, who is clearly rebuilding. That will be a coin toss type of a game but one where Miami appears to be – at least on paper – the sounder of the two teams. Then they’ll stay in state and visit Florida in what should be a manageable game. After that, they get a visit from the Bills and the Jets. While that’s two division games, the Dolphins should be favored on the NFL odds in both. And looking further out, they then have a bye, then visit Tennessee and get Houston at home. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see them start 4-2 or 5-1.
